Executive Summary We are very proud of our organisation and consider it a privilege to lead it and be involved with it.

Stories Everyone has a story and there are hundreds of stories out there of people we have supported to find the strength to cope and recover after experiencing an extremely traumatic time. In 1989, Splitz was willing to stand up for people with experience of domestic abuse, separation and divorce and provide real support. We’re now one of the biggest local providers of services in our area; helping people to face the future without fear. We play an essential role in helping people to make their lives better.

Finding a Voice We help people to find a voice and the strength to face the future without fear; with things as simple as completing a benefits claim to accessing housing; from confused feelings and traumatic times. Working together with others we make sure people access the help they need.

We help the Forgotten Families. Children are the hidden victims - voiceless long enough. Scarred for life and the ability to develop healthy adult relationships damaged. There are still too many whose need for safety has been overlooked - not hard to reach, but easy to ignore. We won’t let them be written off.

Our young people’s projects have transformed young lives harmed through witnessing domestic abuse. But we need to do more. All young people should be able to live free from fear. We want to do more; make change.

We want to ensure that our service can continue.

We trust that the newly elected Police and Crime Commissioners will take on board the diverse local needs and that we are the natural choice for Onwards providing a specialist service.

We will focus our efforts on for young people to learn about Healthy Relationships so that they Positive Achievement are more likely to be safe and happy.

This review highlights another year of positive achievement and we hope it will inspire you to acknowledge those who have courageously sought support and direction.

Despite the challenging economic climate, our supporters have continued to show that they believe in us and our work. Keep rockin’!

Positve outcomes achieved by our service users are the most important issue for us. The number of referrals to our existing and new projects is encouraging, as is the feedback and satisfaction scores from those who have received a service.

In order to make this happen we have a responsibility to ensure we have well traiined staff and nationally recognised good governance

Daphne’s Story My name is Daphne and I was a victim of domestic abuse. Fortunately I have been helped to overcome the damaging effects that had on me.

When I was first offered the chance to take part in a Splitz ‘Making Changes’ workshop, I thought I had nothing to lose by attending. Although I had escaped from an awful relationship, I was struggling to regain my former self, the person I had once been before the abuse. I put on a brave face for the outside world, for my family, for my friends, but inside I felt broken, lost, alone, confused and scared. I had forgotten how to enjoy the lovely people in my life and the beauty of nature that had once meant so much to me. My joy for life had gone.

I attended the Salisbury workshop run over 12 weekly sessions. I knew the journey through the course was bound to be difficult and emotional, but knowing I would be amongst others who had experienced domestic abuse helped.

The course was well structured and we were always kept informed of what to expect and what was coming next. I found security in that. We were encouraged to take part but never put under pressure. Each participant was free to move at their own speed allowing for our different needs. We opened up when we were ready.

Bit by bit the workshop helped me unravel the mess I had become and I started to believe there was a way to be whole and strong again.

Now the course has ended I shall miss the weekly sessions. But I can see my way again. Those dark days are in my past and I feel stronger and am enjoying each day and am optimistic for the future. I am armed with the tools needed to recognise what is right and wrong in a relationship and I’m not afraid to strive for what is right and honest and good. My smile is real now.

Without such help I believe I would never have come this far. I couldn’t have found my way back alone and cannot imagine what would have happened to me. I was in a bad place back then.

There will probably be times when I falter and I may well have moments of anxiety relating to my past, but I only have to pick up the phone. I know someone from the Splitz Support Service, someone who understands, will be there for me.

Making a Difference We measure the difference we make in the services we deliver by adopting consistent methods of monitoring outcomes, seeking direct feedback and using external methods of evaluation. Splitz has been proactive in encouraging PhD students and research programmes to access its services, contributing to best practice and learning from the outcomes.

Accreditation We have sought and achieved a number of national quality marks, both at charity and service delivery level. We continue to keep these under review and through them aim to demonstrate our commitment to excellence and good governance.

Evaluation This year we began a process of external evaluation of a number of our projects. We expect the results later in the year and will use the findings to influence change.

Splitz Support Service

Who We Are & What We Do Splitz is an independent charity and leading provider of domestic abuse support services in Wiltshire. We have a key role in shaping strategy and policy through our participation in the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Reduction Group, domestic abuse forums and by lobbying local, regional and national government.

As a service user-led provider we work with

partner agencies and the local community to research and forecast support needs, and develop and deliver a range of quality services and other solutions. Our services are developed with input from service users and others in the local community. We offer a range of services for individuals and families. Our services are developed to meet the need and demand within the local community.

Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service:

Domestic Abuse Outreach (Wiltshire):

This is a new holistic domestic abuse outreach service to people from Gloucestershire who have suffered domestic abuse. This service is funded

by Gloucestershire Council and delivered in partnership with GreenSquare Group.

Paloma, our outreach service, is one of our longest running services, providing one to one and group support to people from Wiltshire who have suffered domestic abuse. The service is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the Wiltshire Community Safety Partnership.

Support is available to victims of domestic abuse with low to medium risk, an IDVA service for those with higher risk, and ‘places of safety’ for those who need extra security where they live or require to flee to a safe location.

The service began in July 2012, and in the first 9 months we had referrals from over 1400 people.

GDASS Referrals

Support is available to victims of domestic abuse with low to medium risk. In addition we provide structured group workshops for women using our 12-week Making Changes programme developed in 1994.

Demand remains high with almost 400 referrals.

Community4: Community4 is a generic housing related floating support service provided to people in Wiltshire. This service is funded

by Supporting People and delivered in partnership with three other charities.

Support is available to people who are at risk of losing their home, or require support to take up or sustain a tenancy.

This is an outreach service with drop-in opportunities at key locations, including a regular presence at the county court.

Support includes helping those in need maximise their benefits, with over ÂŁ200k in grants and benefits awarded this year.

Young People’s Support Services: We have 3 projects for young people from Wiltshire affected by domestic abuse: KidzPace and SplitzKidz have been running for 9 years and provide one to one support and group support to the young people and their parent. Primary funding is from BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief;

Newburn House: TeenzTalk is a new initiative piloted this year, delivered in schools and concentrating on healthy relationships.

It is now 9 years since this service began, and it is extremely gratifying to know that of all the residents who moved on to an independent tenancy none has failed.

Young People’s Service Referrals

Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programmes (DVPP): We deliver voluntary DVPP in Wiltshire and Bristol, with a new programme starting in Gloucestershire in 2013.

The main funders are the Big Lottery Fund and Plain Action in Wiltshire and Safer Bristol.

Newburn House is a residential unit for young mums learning life skills. This service is delivered in partnership with GreenSquare Group.

their behaviour. Groups are provided in Trowbridge and Salisbury.

To ensure the men have a chance to change over time we also provide a 12-month follow-on programme A parallel women’s safety service is provided to ensure the partners remain safe during this period.

With over 200 referrals for up to 100 spaces on the programme this service remains in high demand.

We continue to deliver a cookery workshop each week and help improve the household skills of the young mums though home starter workshops.

Buddy Scheme: A mentoring and befriending service for people in Wiltshire who have received a structured support service and now require a lower level of support. Primary funding is from The Henry Smith Charity.

This service is delivered by a team of 12-15 volunteers, who gain as much from the service as they provide. This year we retained our Investing in Volunteers and Approved Provider Standard accreditations.

Splitz Support Service

Charlotte’s Story I can’t remember exactly when I started receiving support from Splitz. Everything was such a blur anyway and I was really surprised that there was any support for me at all as I knew that it was my husband who needed help.

It came to me very slowly that I also needed help to understand how I came to be where I was. All my energies had been directed into supporting my children and trying to help my husband and I had not considered me or my role in how my relationship with my husband had developed at all.

To begin with I remember thinking that it was a waste of time really – I didn’t need support or help, I was fine and could sort myself out, I wasn’t at all sure how useful or necessary talking about me was going to be.

I was not used to talking and thinking about how I was feeling and it seemed very strange at first to be discussing such personal things with someone I didn’t know. However, because of the “go at your own speed” approach, trust was built up and before long I was able to open up. What has been fantastic about the support is that it has never been “do this, do that…”.

Instead there has been gentle suggestion and questions to make me think about what I was doing, empowering me to make the decisions that would change my life.

The holistic family support has been truly amazing and not what I expected at all. My children have all in different ways been affected by what has happened and they have all been given the opportunity to discuss their feelings. Talking about them has also helped me with feelings of guilt which in turn has helped me support my children with their understanding of what has happened to our family Although I’m much clearer in my head and direction I still wobble and fall back into old habits and it’s very comforting to know that there is someone there who always has time for me, reminding me of the progress I have made and the goals I am aiming for. My situation has been going on for so long now that I am very aware that for friends and family this has become normal and they don’t see the minute changes and steps of progress I am making – I also don’t want to become that person who only talks about their life and problems so it’s really good to have someone there who it seems is quite happy for me to go on and on about it! Additionally there are things that I can only discuss with my support worker as I feel only she fully understands my situation and has clearly had so much experience supporting people like me.

I am just beginning to become really aware of myself and my needs. While I was still with my husband (although I didn’t realise it at the time) it was as if I was underwater; not hearing or seeing things clearly, reactions delayed and the constant feeling that I was pushing against a heavy wall of water. I feel now that I have just broken the surface and had a few gasps of fresh air. I don’t think it would ever have happened if I had not had the support. It has been reliable, consistent, kind, sometimes challenging and always helpful.

Meeting Our Targets Review of Development, Activities & Achievements During the year Splitz received 948 referrals: 813 for adult support and 135 for young people’s support.

Referrals to our domestic abuse outreach service accounted for 48% of all referrals; our perpetrator programmes received 28% of all referrals; and our young people’s support had 17% of all referrals.

We delivered 10,482 hours of direct support, of which 84% was face to face and 14% phone/text contact.

PQASSO Briefing - Away Day Oct 2012

The highest number of adult referrals was from Bristol (129) with Salisbury (112) and Trowbridge (99) close behind. For young people Trowbridge (24), Chippenham (23) and Salisbury (22) were the main referral towns.

We trainedan additional 11 people to become mentors/befrienders with our Buddy Scheme.

In addition, we provided support to over 1400 people in Gloucestershire as a partner in the Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service (GDASS) and over 1300 people in Wiltshire as a partner in the Community4 housing related floating support service.

Satisfaction rates are over 90% for most services and over 80% for all services.

Being a Buddy I’d been in an abusive relationship for 13 years and it took me 3 of those years to find the confidence to leave. It took a further 2 years to get to the stage where I was in a position to help other women who had been in a similar position to me so I applied to be a Buddy.

I was so excited when I received the email for an interview.

I’d waited so long to be able to give back and help others.

I felt nervous at first but the Project Coordinator made me feel relaxed and I was able to be myself.

The training was well structured and in a small group. It was very interesting and fun; I learned so much and met some lovely people. It also built my confidence up and I felt like my life was taking a new and positive direction.

When I was matched up with a client I was excited and nervous at the same time because even though I would be able to relate to her, would she feel able to talk to me? My initial meeting with her was with the Project Coordinator and I just soaked in everything, listened and relaxed.

My first meeting on my own was scary but it felt so natural listening, and trust was building.

Being a Buddy is a very important part of my life and has played a huge part in my own personal development.

When a client has been in a dark place and then one week she smiles and laughs, you know then that you have made a difference and it is such a wonderful feeling to know that you’ve been a small part of their journey.

I became sure this was a career I wanted to pursue and 3 years on I am now working as a support worker.

The Road Ahead

To strengthen our capacity to continue developing new services we will examine our internal systems and processes and carry out a full review of our policies and procedures.

We have been successful in retaining a tender and piloting another new service in Gloucestershire, which we will enhance and integrate to develop a model integrated, coordinated community response.

By continuing to commission external evaluation of our services we will improve how we deliver our services and enhance their outcomes.

Revision of our workshop manuals is ongoing with a view to publishing and selling some of them.

Formal staff training is a key priority next year with management and specialist training already planned.

Targets for 2013-14 The key targets for the next year are: 1. Celebrate our 25th anniversary in style.

Organise events to raise our profile and perhaps raise some income.

2. Continue our programme of external evaluations for all projects and programmes.

Publish group work manuals after evaluation.

3. Continue to develop and run project related service user forums.

Rachel’s Story I was referred to GDASS by my GP in February 2013. My husband had beaten me up at the beginning of December 2012 resulting in my ankle being broken and the Police being called. I knew that there was something wrong within my relationship with my husband but I was always told by him that it was my fault and, to my detriment, I had believed him.

He had always had a temper. As soon as we got married this escalated and he began smashing up my possessions when he was angry. I finally kicked my husband out at the end of January, realising that he was not at all apologetic for what he had done to me.

From the moment I was in contact with Hayley, my support worker, I finally felt that someone else really understood what I was going through. Whilst everyone thinks that they have some knowledge of domestic violence, the actual reality is very different. Hayley was able to help me see the reality of what was my husband was and still is doing.

Domestic abuse and violence is not a one off act, it is a process and it has a pattern with various stages. It can be very difficult when you are within the relationship to see clearly what is happening so it is essential to have someone there who can give you clarity and teach you to protect yourself both physically and mentally against an abuser. Other people cannot understand what you are going through or why you would be drawn to going back to an abuser but Hayley understands whilst never telling me what to do or judging my decisions. This is crucial.

Friends and family misguidedly judge harshly in an attempt to protect you but this is not what one needs. It is support to make decisions, choices and mistakes with knowledge. I could not have gained this simply from reading. I needed someone with knowledge to talk through what I have gone and am going through. I have no intention of going back now but if Hayley had not been there I may well have done. It can be extremely difficult to fight the manipulations of an abuser when you feel alone and are so used to the emotional abuse that you do not realise it is happening.

Having started prosecution I have also had a lot to do with the Police. It was Hayley and GDASS that pushed the case forward when I did not have the strength or connections to. After numerous problems resulting in my making a complaint, they have made sure that I now deal with a female officer from the DV unit and that has made all the difference to me. She has been totally empathetic, understanding and knowledgable in her dealings with me and I actually now feel the case is proceeding, albeit slowly.

Hayley has talked me through each stage. In practical ways she has advised me about personal safety and home security at a time when I was terrified that my husband would come back and hurt me. Her help and support has started to give me some tools with which to rebuild my self esteem and life and not be a victim anymore.

Agencies like GDASS are essential not only for the individual like me but also to help increase knowledge about the realities of domestic abuse. It is only with knowledge that attempts can be made to reduce the numbers of cases of abuse within the home.

Governance Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity at the end of the year and of the incoming and outgoing resources for the year then ended.

In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently, making judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent. The trustees must also prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue its activities.

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2011. The trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Each of the directors has confirmed that there is no information of which they are aware which is relevant to the audit, but of which the auditor is unaware. They have further confirmed that they have taken appropriate steps to identify such relevant information and to establish that the auditors are aware of such information.

Trustee Recruitment & Induction We aim to ensure our board of trustees reflects the widest possible range of skills, not only business and financial expertise but life experience too. Trustee vacancies are advertised on the Splitz Support Service website with an application process similar to that of our volunteer scheme.

A trustee induction procedure is in place and new trustees undergo a half day training and receive an induction pack containing a variety of documents and forms for their attention. Included in the pack is a copy of The Essential Trustee and the Directors and Secretaries Guide. As part of trustee development, and to meet expectations, we now ensure that all trustees participate in Safeguarding and Child Protection training and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check. An induction presentation is available. The Chairman maintains a register of trustee induction.

Constitution The trustees completed a review of the Memorandum and Articles of Association with the aim of bringing it into line with the Charity Commission’s new model. This led to a review of the charity Objects; there was no change to the objects.

The charity has paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake.

Management Delegated Responsibilities The trustees have delegated day-to-day management decisions to the Executive Director: this includes the decision for setting up new projects, fundraising, staff matters, contracts relating to the provision of our services and all policies and procedures.

The trustees retain responsibility for agreeing large contracts and single expenditure over £12,000, financial oversight, compliance with Company and Charity law, ratifying key policies and procedures, and maintaining a strategic overview of the activities and development of the charity.

Staff The average number of employees during the year was 42 (29.8 FTE). Staff retention was 84.4%.

Further details can be found in the Equality Monitoring Report available on our website. All of our staff team are to be commended for their dedication and commitment to the organisation and its work. They all participate enthusiastically in team meetings, Away Days, training and supervision opportunities. There are a number of other professionals who we engage whose contribution is considered to be of vital significance to the well being of our service including the mobile crèche workers, the group facilitators and the external supervisors.

Risk Management The Trustees have conducted their own review of the major risks to which the Charity is exposed and systems have been established to mitigate those risks. Internal risks are minimised by the implementation of procedures for authorisation of all transactions and projects and to ensure consistent quality of delivery for all operational aspects of the charitable company. These procedures are periodically reviewed to ensure that they still meet the needs of the charity.

Financial Review We have ended the financial year in a healthy position. The attached financial statements show a surplus for the year of £37,729 (2011/12 £71,358).

Reserves The trustees have agreed to maintain the reserves amount at £170,000. Reserves are to be maintained at a level that will ensure that our core activities can continue during an unforeseen period of financial difficulty. In accordance with guidelines issued by the Charity Commissioners, the Trustees have adopted a policy regarding financial reserves with the aim of holding up to six months core running costs in unrestricted funds ensuring that there are adequate funds to ensure that the Charity is able to meet all current and known future liabilities.

Auditors A resolution proposing that David Owen & Co be reappointed as auditors of the charity will be put to the members.

Marketing & Fundraising To consolidate the messages that define the charity and the range of services delivered we have produced a comprehensive Communications Plan. The plan has key messages and supporting information, which can be used by trustees and staff when dealing with the press, allowing a consistent message to be maintained. In addition, we have refined our fundraising strategy to focus our efforts on achieving long-term sustainable funding.

Results The results for the year and the charity’s financial position at the end of the year are shown in the attached financial statements.

Independent Auditor’s Report We have audited the financial statements of Splitz Support Service for the year ended 31 March 2013 which comprise the Statement of Financial Activities, the Balance Sheet and the related notes. These accounts have been prepared under the accounting policies set out therein.

The report is made solely to the charity’s trustees, as a body, in accordance with section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and regulations made under section 154 of that Act. Our audit work has been undertaken so that we might state to the charity’s trustees those matters we are required to state to them in an auditors’ report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charitable company and its trustees as a body, for our audit work, for this report, or for the opinions we have formed.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and the auditors As described in the Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities, the trustees’ (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company Law) are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the accounts in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice) and for being satisfied that the accounts show a true and fair view.

The Trustees have elected for the accounts to be audited in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 rather than the Companies Act 2011. Accordingly we have been appointed as auditors under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and report in accordance with regulations made under section 154 of that Act. Those standards require us to comply with the Auditing Practices Board’s Ethical Standards for Auditors.

Scope of the audit of the accounts An audit involves obtaining evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements sufficient to give reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatement, whether caused by fraud or error. This includes an assessment of whether the accounting policies are appropriate to the charity’s circumstances and have been consistently applied and adequately disclosed; the reasonableness of the significant accounting estimates made by the trustees; and the overall presentation of the financial statements. In addition, we read all the financial and non-financial information in the trustees report to identify material inconsistencies with the audited financial statements and to identify any information that is apparently incorrect based on, or materially inconsistent with, the knowledge acquired by us in the course of performing the audit.

If we become aware of any apparent material misstatements or inconsistencies we consider the implications for our report.

Opinion on the financial statements In our opinion the financial statements: • give a true and fair view of the state of the charity’s affairs as at 31 March 2013 and incoming resources and application of resources, for the year then ended.

• have been properly prepared in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice; and • have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006.

Opinion on other matters prescribed by the Companies Act 2006 In our opinion the information given in the Trustees’ Annual Report for the financial year for which the financial statements are prepared is consistent with the financial statements.

Matters on which we are required to report by exception We have nothing to report in respect of the following matter where the Companies Act 2006 requires us to report to you if, in our opinion: • the charitable company has not kept adequate accounting records, or that returns adequate for our audit have not been received from branches not visited by us; • the financial statements are not in agreement with the accounting records and returns; • certain disclosures of trustee’s remuneration specified by law are not made; or • we have not received all the information and explanations we require for our audit.

Notes to the Accounts 1.

Accounting policies

Basis of preparation of the accounts

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards, the Statement of Recommended Practice, “Accounting and Reporting by Charities”, issued in March 2005 and the Companies Act 2006. Where necessary the headings laid down in the Act have been adapted to meet the special activities of the Charity.

The particular accounting policies adopted are set out below.

Accounting convention The financial statements are prepared on a going concern basis, under the historical cost convention.

The charity is entirely dependant on continuing grant aid and as a consequence the going concern basis is also dependant on the continuing grant aid.

Incoming resources Incoming resources are accounted for on a receivable basis deferred as described below.

Except as described under the ‘Deferred income’ accounting policy all grants, including grants for the purchase of fixed assets, are recognised in full in the Statement of Financial Activities (SOFA) in the year in which they are receivable.

Investment income Bank interest is included in the income and expenditure account on a receivable basis.

Deferred income In accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice for Accounting and Reporting (March 2005) issued by the Charity Commission for England and Wales, grants received in advance and specified by the donor as relating to specific accounting periods or alternatively which are subject to conditions which are still to be met, and which are outside the control of the charity or where it is uncertain whether the conditions can or will be met, are deferred on an accruals basis to the period to which they relate. Such deferrals are shown in the notes to the accounts and the sums involved are shown as creditors in the accounts.

Recognition of liabilities Liabilities are recognised on the accruals basis in accordance with normal accounting principles, modified where necessary in accordance with the guidance given in the Statement of Recommended Practice for Accounting and Reporting (March 2005) issued by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Resources expended Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates.

Costs of generating funds Comprise the costs associated with attracting voluntary income.

Charitable expenditure Comprise those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and services for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them.

Governance costs Include those costs associated with meeting the constitutional and statutory requirements of the charity and include costs linked to the strategic management of the charity.

Annual Review 2012-2013 Allocation of costs within types of resources expended The methods and principles for the allocation and apportionment of all costs between the different activity categories of resources set out above are:-All costs allocated between expenditure categories of the SOFA on the basis designed to reflect the use of the resources.

-Costs relating to a particular activity are allocated directly, others are apportioned on an appropriate basis e.g. floor areas, per capita or estimated usage as set out in the notes to the accounts.

Unrealised and realised gains Realised gains and losses are included in the accounts on the date at which a contractual obligation is entered into.

Unrealised gains and losses are computed by reference to the market value of the investments at the balance sheet date, compared to the brought forward cost or valuation, and gains and losses on similar categories of investment are netted off.

Fixed assets and depreciation Fixed assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation. Any fixed assets for which grant funding has been specifically obtained for are written off in full in the year of purchase.

Depreciation is calculated so as to write off the cost of an asset, less its estimated residual value, over the useful economic life of that asset as follows: Fixture and fittings – 20% straight line Computer equipment – 3 years straight line

Winding up or dissolution of the charity If upon winding up or dissolution of the charity there remain any assets, after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities, the assets represented by the accumulated fund shall be transferred to some other charitable body or bodies having similar objects to the charity.

NEWBURN HOUSE is a residential unit for young mums learning life skills. It is provided with funding from Supporting People through the Greensquare Group, Gannett Foundation, Westlea Community Investment Trust and the Dawe Family Trust.

THE COOKERY PROJECT takes place at Newburn House giving residents an opportunity to learn new skills in relation to the culinary art, including nutrition, diet, and menu planning and budgeting. It is funded by The William ‘Doc’ Couch Trust and Trowbridge Almshouses Trust, with grants from some local town councils.

THE CRISIS FUND is for the purpose of meeting the emergency needs of particular families. A grant specifically raised and administered on an individual basis.

Splitz Support Service THE BUDDY SCHEME is a mentoring scheme for service users who no longer require structured support and is mainly staffed by volunteers. It is funded by The Henry Smith Charity, the Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon, Comic Relief, St James Trust, The Walter Guinness Charitable Trust and various small grants from town councils and others.

THE TURNAROUND PROGRAMME works with perpetrators of domestic violence with funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Plain Action, Porticus UK, the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, the Charles Hayward Foundation, Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, with some additional funding from Wiltshire Council and CAFCASS. KIDZPACE is for teenagers damaged through witnessing domestic violence and is funded by Comic Relief, the Colonel William Llewellen Palmer Educational Charity, the Steven Gerrard Foundation and the Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon, with additional funding this year from Corsham and Melsham Area Boards, Vodafone and Sainsbury’s.

SPLITZKIDZ is to provide a children’s domestic violence support worker and is funded by BBC Children in Need and The Herbert and Peter Blagrave Charitable Trust, with additional funding from Wiltshire Council.

TEENZTALK is a programme delivered in schools to help young people better understand healthy relationships. It is funded by Wiltshire Police Authority and Amesbury Area Board.

PALOMA WILTSHIRE is provides support to victims of domestic violence and abuse in Wiltshire with funding from the Big Lottery Fund and Wiltshire Community Safety partnership.

STOPPING VIOLENCE PROGRAMME works with the perpetrators of domestic violence in Bristol and is funded by Safer Bristol.

GDASS is the domestic abuse outreach service in Gloucestershire funded by Gloucestershire County Council and delivered in partnership with the GreenSquare Group. Additional funding from the Ministry of Justice for a court IDVA and crisis funds from Zurich Community Trust and GE Aviation plus other donations.

COMMUNITY 4 is the housing related floating support service funded by Supporting People through Wiltshire Council delivered in partnership with Alabaré Christian Care and Support, DHI and Westlea Housing Association.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT FUND is a designated fund set aside to ‘springboard’ any new projects that may arise.

CONTINGENCY FUND consists of surplus amounts of monies set aside for developing new projects while waiting for grants, or for existing projects that are between funders.

RESERVE FUND is a designated fund to take care of existing financial commitments for up to six months in line with the trustees’ financial reserves policy.
