CBFC(Central Board of Film Certification) Film certification is handled by CBFC in INDIA● CBFC is a statutory body which comes under the ministry of information and broadcasting to regulate the public exhibition of films under the provisions of Cinematograph Act 1952. ● People of India can watch films only after getting approval from CBFC.
When CBF certificate started● In 1920, the Cinematography act had been passed in India which created censor boards only in a few cities, all were autonomous. ● After the abolition of the regional board’s autonomy when India became independent and then they came under the inspection of the Bombay Board Of Film Censors. ● Later this was reconstituted as Central Board Of Film Censors and Central Board of Film certification in 1952 and 1983 respectively.
