The Siptak family is overjoyed to announce a well-deserved milestone in Joe Siptak’s journey –his retirement from a remarkable 50-year tenure at HEB Grocery Company. Joe’s dedicated service commenced in 1973 when he began his career as a grocery bagger, and he ascended the ranks to become the lead maintenance personnel in Bay City, Texas.

To honor his legacy, the Bay City HEB orchestrated a heartwarming retirement celebration on March 9, extending to him and his family a cake, an enjoyable luncheon, and a plaque recognizing his five decades of exceptional service. Additionally, Joe received a personal letter of appreciation from Howard Butt, the CEO of HEB.

On his final workday, March 10, both HEB employees and customers alike came together to orchestrate a heartwarming surprise. Joe was greeted with an exuberant parade inside the store, which was an unexpected display of gratitude for his countless contributions.

Seated in a golf cart that played polka music, Joe waved a fond farewell to his family, dear friends, loyal customers, and fellow employees, a fitting and touching conclusion to his storied career.

One couple mentioned to the writer that they traveled from 75 miles west of Fort Worth.
