SPJST Mourns Loss of Honorary Vice President Gene McBride SPJST Honorary Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride passed away at his home in Temple, Texas, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. He was 83. Brother McBride began his career at the SPJST Home Office in 1979 as State Field Manager. He was elected to the position of SPJST Supreme Lodge Vice President at the 2000 Convention. He served until his retirement in 2014 after 35 years of employment with SPJST. He was a charter member of Lodge 200, Bruceville-Eddy.
Brother McBride was born on January 6, 1938, to Ollie and Mittie (Patterson) McBride in Navarro County, Texas. He is survived by wife Frances McBride of Temple; children Darrell McBride and wife Darlene of Italy, Rusty Pecot of Belton, Darla Morgan and husband Brian of Italy, and

Amy Whitaker of Bruceville; grandchildren Derek, Levi, Melisa, Jason, Robert, Blake, Hunter, Chasidee, R.J., and Logan; and 16 great-grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Ollie and Mittie McBride; and brothers Cecil and Edwin McBride. Visitation was Friday, September 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Scanio Harper Fu-
neral Home in Temple. Funeral service was Saturday, September 11 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial at Eddy Cemetery in Eddy. Memorials in Brother McBrideâs honor may be made to the SPJST Scholarship Fund; Camp Kubena, in care of the SPJST Foundation; or to Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org).
