State King’s Notebook by Nash Campbell • 2018-2019 SPJST State King • Lodge 24, Cyclone - District Two Hello, Vestnik Readers! Here’s a quick update on what I have been doing since Westfest. It was really close, and I am looking forward to an even deeper playoff run for my senior year in the fall. I had a great year in the Rogers High School Band as well. I play in the percussion section, and we had an awesome marching season. I am looking forward to a fantastic concert season this spring. Since September, I have been keeping

busy working a part-time job, taking care of my show animals, which include pigs and turkeys, and keeping up with my
schoolwork. We celebrated Thanksgiving in November, and the Saturday after Thanksgiving, my brother Cade, my mom, my grandma, and I participated in the wreath laying at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. We have been doing this for about four or five years now. It is a somber time, but very rewarding to see all the people honoring the Veterans who have sacrificed for the freedoms we have and enjoy on a daily basis. Our youth club also went to the Gaylord Texas Resort in Grapevine for the ICE exhibit and lunch at Rainforest Cafe. We had a really great time. The ICE exhibit theme this year was Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and it was stunning! Continued on Page 19.
