Snow Much Fun in Corpus Christi
Věstník “serves up” SPJST life to Czech students
H E R A L D
ISSN —07458800
Many youngsters in Corpus Christi, Texas, awoke on Friday, December 8, 2017, to snow covering the city for the first time in their lives. Lodge 79, Corpus Christi Youth Club members Marcus Rebecek, left, and Jacob Rebecek, right, enjoy the day building a Texas snowman with their mother Laura. The previous recorded snowfall in Corpus was in 2004.
“My students enjoy reading the Věstník learning more about the USA and the different activities that the lodges do. This was in The Agrotec Company in Hustopec, South Moravia, Czech Republic. My students are involved in all aspects of the company from accounting to dealing with customers. The company has all farming equipment from the smallest to the giants even the grape pickers as we are in the largest wine producing area of all the Czech Republic. I am happy to receive the Věstník, and it is a great way to keep up with my many friends in Texas . . . and it makes a perfect reading instrument for my students. It is good for pronunciation and knowing typical Texas (USA) English phrases and words. Thank you and keep up the great work that you are doing.” —John A. Kuba, Podivin, Czech Republic

The photos should demonstrate CzechAmerican inspiration, heritage, and pride. The Czech Embassy is seeking originality; photos may portray Czech connections as well as abstract ideas. Special note: While the Czech Embassy remains staunchly proud of Czech heritage, it is not seeking to collect photos strictly of people dressed in the national
