Delivering Christmas Joy and Happiness

Popping the Question The year ended at a couple of SPJST halls around the state with great beginnings. Door prizes were awarded throughout the New Year’s Eve dance at Lodge 47, Seaton Star Hall. Lodge 47 President Edwin Pechal announced that one of the door prizes was one-of-akind. “As far as I know, a prize like this has never been given away at Star Hall,” he said. Clifton Goonan then approached the stage to present the prize, but he was to choose who the lucky winner would be. “It was, of course, a beautiful lady named Samantha Cox, and the prize was the gift for a lifetime—as Clifton got down on his knee and presented Samantha with an engagement ring asking her to be his

wife,” Lodge 47 Secretary Patsy Koslovsky reported. “Samantha wholeheartedly accepted his gift with a big ‘yes!’” Lodge 191, Lufkin Reporter Pat Scogin shared a similar story. “One of the young ladies, Bethany Hickman, who was at the New Year’s Eve dance at Lodge 191 was pleasantly surprised,” Pat said. “Bethany’s boyfriend Nathaniel Frisinger proposed to her in front of the whole crowd during the band’s break. I think she was totally surprised, and, of course, she said ‘yes.’ What a great way to start a new stage of their lives!” Congratulations to these couples! —SPJST—

By Colby See 2016-2017 SPJST State King Lodge 9, Snook Youth Club

My local Lodge 9, Snook Youth Club and my church’s BYF (Brethren Youth Fellowship) sang Christmas carols to the residents of St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell on Sunday, December 4, 2016. All of the youth enjoyed the function especially me! We were able to bring

Christmas joy and happiness to everyone there. After singing, we all visited with the elders, and one lady even told me how she came to know Jesus as her personal savior. My youth club and BYF then enjoyed Pizza Hut later that night. I’m looking forward to visiting the rest home again. —SPJST—
