Presidential Perks
You have no idea what kind of perks come with being president of SPJST Lodge 180, Burleson until you have had a chance to walk in my shoes. I have the pleasure of doing special things for other folks, and that surely gives a nice feeling. On the morning of Thursday, December 15, 2016, I had the honor and privilege to deliver cake, assorted doughnuts, and pigs-in-a-blanket to some excited Burleson Police Officers. I do not per-

sonally know the three police officers who accepted the goodies, but it was an honor to meet them. The police officers were so surprised and excited to receive the treats. They were anxious to enjoy them with their early morning coffee before the day started. Let us not forget what the Blue do for us on a daily basis. —SPJST—
Recapping a Great Year
Lodge 41, Port Lavaca officers and members sport their new SPJST caps as they revisit an exciting year in 2016. The lodge donated approximately two acres of vacant land to Six Mile Volunteer Fire Department. A community dedication ceremony was held in August. Six Mile VFD plans to build a fire station on the land. Lodge 84, Dallas members gathered on December 11 for their last annual Christmas party at the lodge hall, located at 2625 Floyd Street in Dallas. The hall and property are expected to be sold in 2017, and lodge members will then meet in a new location. See article and photos on page 12 and more information in the lodge letter on page 10.
