Lodge 246, Morgan’s Point Member Jeffrey Brown Presents Listopad
November 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of Communism in Central and Eastern Europe. To complement the a n n i v e r s a r y, SPJST Lodge 246, Morgan’s Point member Jeffrey Brown presents Listopad, a Czech film that he Jeffrey Brown produced that will be shown across the state in October and November. Listopad (November in English) (CZ-USA, 2014) is a story of spirited friendship between three boys swept up in the Czech Republic’s 1989 Velvet Revolution. Listopad is American Gary Griffin’s directorial debut and has been in process since he covered the Czech
Velvet Revolution for NBC in 1989. Shooting on Listopad actually started in 2009 on the 20-year anniversary. Gary is best known for winning Best Cinematography (Education of Shelby Knox) at Sundance 2005, Emmy and Oscar-winning docs and shooting regularly with Oscar-winning documentarian Barbara Kopple.
Synopsis Petr, Jiri, and Ondrej are an unlikely trio of friends. An artist, a hockey player, and a music trader, the boys survive Communism by playing sports, drinking beer, chasing girls, and listening to underground music. But they are bound together by their common desire for freedom and, on a cold, dark night in November, Petr, Jiri, and Ondrej join the front lines of
