Kolache baking is an acquired art. The little nuances add up to the big picture, and it helps if you start learning as young as possible. With that in mind, Snook residents have worked together in recent years to share their expertise with local youth. It is a cooperative effort also involving Snook 4-H members and SPJST Lodge 9, Snook.
And the youth who learn their lessons well have often won at the annual Kolache Festival Baking Contest. This year’s contest was on Saturday, September 13, in conjunction with the festival. On Saturday, August 23, the adults offered a baking workshop for about 15 local youth at the Snook School Cafeteria, and it was well received. Adult leaders hope the youth will get involved in this year’s festival bake show and that they will continue
