SPJST to host Ninth Annual Car Show, Czech Heritage Celebration in Seaton
Saturday, May 3 will be filled with classic cars, kolaches, arts/crafts, food, music, Czech heritage, kids’ activities, and fun at SPJST Lodge 47, Seaton Star Hall for the Ninth Annual SPJST Car Show and Czech Heritage Celebration. Star Hall is located at 10842 State Highway 53, seven miles east of Temple in the community of Seaton. The event opens to the public at 9 a.m. Car show registration begins at 8 a.m. The show is organized into 37 classes. Vehicles will be independently judged, and more than 100 trophies will be awarded. Trophies will also be presented to the top three people’s choice entries. Other special awards include SPJST King’s and SPJST Queen’s choice, club participation, distance, best engine, best paint, best graphics, and best interior. A special SPJST Award will be presented to an SPJST member. Car show entry fee is $20 per vehicle ($15 for SPJST members) before April 30. After April 30 and day of show registration is $30 ($25 for SPJST members). The car show will also include prize drawings and live and silent auctions. All proceeds from this year’s car show will benefit the Czech Heritage Museum and Genealogy Center, located at 119 West French Avenue in Temple, and SPJST Education and Nature Center at Cooper Farm, located in Ledbetter, Texas. Museum volunteers will have special displays like sauerkraut-making, noodle-making, lace-making, and quilting. Attendees can make their own s’more and learn more about SPJST ENC at Cooper Farm at the camp display. The car show theme is “Hee Haw!” Car show participants are encouraged to dress up and decorate their vehicle display area for Best “Hee Haw!” Dressed Vehicle Owner
and Best “Hee Haw!” Vehicle Display. Judging will be at 11 a.m. Several awards will be presented. And, be sure to sign up at the event for the Kolache Eating Contest! Prizes will be awarded in both contests. The Praha Bros. band will entertain from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. District Two Beseda Dancers will perform at 1 p.m. A live auction will begin at 1:30 p.m. The silent auction closes at 2:15 p.m. SPJST State Individual Talent Winner Amya Rodriguez will sing at 2:30 p.m. prior to the car show awards presentation at 3 p.m. Arts/crafts, service, and auto-related vendors are welcome. A 10’ by 10’ space is $25; there is no charge for non-profit organizations including SPJST lodges and youth clubs. Texas Czech Genealogical Society will have a display with various Czech wares and memorabilia available. Event admission is free of charge. Lodge 47, Seaton adults and youth are hosting the food and beverage booths. Various food and beverage items will be available throughout the day, including breakfast tacos from 7 to 9 a.m. Visit www.spjst.org for complete event information.
