It’s me again—not selling tickets for a jackpot drawing, but asking you to open your hearts and purses and/or billfolds to help pay off the Czech Heritage Museum mortgage. I stood before the 2012 SPJST Convention delegates and promised the debt on our beloved Museum would be paid before I departed this life. Immediately thereafter, I became ill. My pastor told me I had other things to do before I died. Paying off the Museum is one of them, I believe, and I am asking you to help. I thank God, my Czech boss of 38 years, and many of you for the successes I have been privy to receive these many years. Having reached the young age of 87 years, I have a passion to pay this debt as soon as possible. You do understand why I feel so anxious about “as soon as possible.” Showcasing the courage, tenacity, and hope the Czech people had are exemplified by the items all housed in the Museum. There are items there which may be the only one in the United States. If you ever wondered about your ancestry, the Museum has genealogy tools for your use. Come by and check out your family history. At our board meeting on December 2, we started a new campaign to raise funds—all to be applied toward the payment of the unpaid principal balance of $407,084. I know there are people who also have a passion for this project, and let me encourage you to give what you can, and further talk it up with your business associates. If
you are doing them a favor, ask them to do one for you, i.e., make a contribution to the Czech Heritage Museum. They will if they are trying to sell you something. I have already tried it and it works. The Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. A red bowl was in the middle of the table at the board meeting, and every board member and spouse added $10 to this red bowl. The ingenious Roxanne Bertrand gave this campaign the name of “Red Bowl Challenge.” Those donating to this worthy cause are Jerry and Henrietta Milan, Nancy and Dewyan Weise, Jesse and Linda Pospisil, Roxanne and Larry Bertrand, Philip and Annie Vahalik, Brian and Joan Vanicek, Mildred Holeman, Don and Chrystal Mears, Kenny and Joni
