Lodge 183, Arlington’s gift to SPJST ENC
This flag pole along with a new camp bell was purchased and built from the $10,000 donation that SPJST Lodge 183, Arlington made to SPJST Education and Nature Center. The flag pole is a 35foot, commercial grade flag pole that has been raised an additional two feet due to the construction of a raised retaining wall. The 30-foot retaining wall that surrounds the flag pole was filled with soil, and a flower bed with walking paths was placed on top. The image of the shooting star represents the hopes and dreams of all who come to the SPJST ENC. The walking paths form a peace sign, which stands for nature’s peace and harmony. “You really have to see this flag pole in person to get a sense of how massive it is and to truly appreciate it,” says ENC Executive Director John Hoelscher. “The SPJST ENC really appreciates the very generous donation that Lodge 183 has made and asks other families and lodges to consider making future donations.” The next project on the wishlist, John says, is to build a playground in the area surrounding the flag pole and horseshoe pits. For those interested, please contact John (979) 249-5674.
