Lodge 79, Corpus Christi Members, Friends: Hats Help Healing at Holidays
Lodge 79, Corpus Christi has been busy again! The lodge’s latest venture is homemade crocheted and knitted hats for the Oncology Department at the local Driscoll Children’s Hospital. In May, Youth Leader Gerilyn Donnell came up with the idea to make 50 hats to donate to the hospital at Christmastime. “To my pleasant surprise, our members did not let me down!” Gerilyn stated recently after delivering the hats to the hospital. “We ended up donating 78 hats.” Gerilyn said that the lady who accepted the donated hats
at the Pediatric Oncology Unit was excited to receive them. “As soon as we handed them to her, she immediately went to the kids to hand them out.” Hats were made by several members and friends of some of the lodge members. “And, some hats even came from as far as Dallas/Fort Worth and Louisiana,” Gerilyn added. “Thank you so much to our members and to all of our extended friends who put their good skills to work in making hats that the children will be able to use and enjoy.” —SPJST—
