SPJST and the City of Killeen unveiled the artist’s rendering of the design for the Fort Hood November 5th, 2009 Memorial on Friday, November 5 at 4:30 p.m. in the tract of land between the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, located at 3601 S. WS Young Drive, and Shilo Inn and Suites. Patriot Guard Riders proudly outlined the area while United States flags waved in the autumn breeze under sunny, blue skies. One year has passed since gunfire erupted inside the Soldier Readiness Center at Fort Hood. Thirteen people were killed and 32 were wounded. Thanks to the heroic intervention of Fort Hood police officers Sgts. Kimberly Munley and Mark Todd, the rampage was brought to an end. The victims were mainly men and women who were preparing to deploy to battle zones or who had recently returned
