The deadline for submitting SPJST Scholarship and Leadership Grant Applications and all necessary paperwork is Monday, February 1, 2010. Applications must be postmarked no later than February 1. For more information, call Sandra at the SPJST Home Office (800) 727-7578.
Carrying on Czech Traditions
The old Czech custom of offering bread and salt to a visitor with the greeting that “we may not have much, but we do have the essentials of life to offer and sustain you on your journey” was observed at the Czech Heritage Society of Texas’ state meeting held in Wall and hosted by Concho Valley Chapter of CHS recently. Lodge 49, Rowena youth Mladi cesi Brandon and Cammi Teplicek of SPJST Lodge 49, Rowena present the bread and salt, a Slavic custom, to Ernest and Maggie Grmela of Lodge 6, Cottonwood.
