With Thanksgiving close at hand . . .
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Our thoughts and prayers go out to Fort Hood and the entire military community as they deal with the tragic and senseless loss of life experienced on November 5, 2009. With Thanksgiving close at hand, may we be especially mindful of the selfless service and sacrifice of our military troops. Many of our members are active-duty military, serving both at home and abroad. We proudly salute them and pray for their safe return. Lodges and individuals seeking to make monetary donations to help support the families of the victims involved in the shooting are encouraged to direct their support to The Central Texas-Fort Hood Chapter of Association of the United States Army. Thanks to the members of Lodge 142, Houston for their quick response and generous support of this AUSA project. Checks should be made payable to The Central TexasFort Hood Chapter, Association of the US Army, ATTN: Community Response to 11/5; P.O. Box 10700; Killeen, Texas 76547. Please know that 100 percent of all funds received will go to meet these needs. Donations are tax deductible. For more information about the Fort Hood AUSA chapter and its soldier support programs, please log on to the chapter web site at www.forthoodausa.org. Fraternally, Brian Vanicek Supreme Lodge President —SPJST—
Creative carving
For Make a Difference Day, members of Lodge 47, Seaton Youth Club gathered to carve pumpkins. Youth and parents then delivered the pumpkins to local rest homes so they could be admired during the autumn season. Quade and Savanna Proctor are pictured delivering a pumpkin to a rest home resident.
