ABOVE: The Vrazels’ Polka Band ended its 55-year musical career on Saturday, January 24 at the Frank W. Mayborn Center in Temple. BELOW: About 1,500 people attended the retirement party and dance which was co-sponsored by SPJST. Attendees crowded the Mayborn Center from wall to wall dancing, singing, and saluting the popular sounds of the Vrazels’ Polka Band. The band has touched generations of members through dances at SPJST lodge halls across Texas from 1953 to 2008. Congratulations on 55 years to band leaders Alfred and Anton Vrazel, both of Lodge 15, Buckholts, and band members Thomas Strmiska and David Trojacek, both of Lodge 25, Ennis; Albert Heselmeyer of Lodge 29, Taylor; and Patrick Strmiska. Best wishes in their retirement. More on pages 15 to 17.
