Lodge 107, Floresville youth gives to Locks of Love
Dear Readers, This past Friday, we had the day off from school. My mom and I decided that is the day we would go to the beauty shop to get our hair cut. My mom has always wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love. When she explained to me what Locks of Love was about, I wanted to donate my hair, too. Irene sectioned the hair into four ponytails, she braided each one, and then she cut each braid. When I saw how short my hair was, I almost cried. I have not had my hair “officially” cut because Mom would always trim it at home. Irene told me I was not just a princess—but a special princess. That made me feel better. To the boy or girl who gets our hair, their dream is also coming true. If it is a girl, I hope she enjoys putting her hair into ponytails or curling her hair as much as I have. I have told my mom that I would like to grow my hair long again so I can donate it and help more kids. See more pictures on page 23. Fraternally, Brooke Henke, age 5 —SPJST—
