SPJST to sponsor Czech Feszt October 18 in Temple
SPJST is once again a proud sponsor of Czech Feszt 2008, a festival to celebrate the culture, foods, and arts of Texans whose early roots originated in Central Europe, will be held on Saturday, October 18 in the Temple Municipal Plaza located at Third and Central in downtown Temple. The City of Temple and the Czech Heritage Museum and Genealogy Center will host the festivities, which will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue until 12 midnight. This year’s event will have several new aspects to it, and the venue is a change from last year’s Czech Feszt. Music is a huge component of the
Czech community life, and there is a large variety of music planned for this year. Polka music is associated with the Czech culture, as well as many other European cultures. The day will begin with Vrazels’ Polka Band who will play on the main stage from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. This will be the final Czech Feszt performance of this band—be sure to catch it. The Vrazels’ will be retiring this year after 55 years of entertaining thousands of people, so this will be one of the last chances to enjoy their music.
