All Roads Lead to Killeen, Texas June 9 to 11 for the 30th SPJST Convention
Conveniently located in the heart of Texas! 60 miles north of Austin 150 miles northeast of San Antonio 163 miles southwest of Dallas/Fort Worth 190 miles northwest of Houston SPJST local lodge delegates from across the state will meet in Killeen, Texas, on Sunday, June 8 through Wednesday, June 11 for the 30th SPJST Convention at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center (KCCC). Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The SPJST Home Office, located at 520 North Main in Temple, will host visitors for the grand opening of the new 11,084 Home Office addition from 1 to 4 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. SPJST Lodge 80, Holland will then host the Howdy Party from 4 to 8 p.m. at the lodge hall. Snacks will be served. Late registration is 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the KCCC on Monday morning. The convention will convene at 8:30 a.m. Catered lunches featuring a sliced barbecue beef, sausage, or turkey sandwich, chips, and iced tea will be available for $6.25 each on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at the center. A barbecue dinner begins at 7 p.m. on Monday evening at the Killeen Special Events Center located next to the KCCC. Johnny Mandell and the MuddCatts will perform for the evening’s entertainment. Dinner tickets are $9 per person.
Tuesday night’s banquet at the KCCC will begin at 7 p.m. and will include a beef and chicken dinner for $20 per person. The Praha Brothers will play for the evening’s dance. All events are open to the public. Tickets may be purchased from SecretaryTreasurer Lanita Anglin at the SPJST Home Office no later than June 2. Please mail a check or money order with the number of tickets needed. Monday evening dinner tickets may also be purchased at registration. Home to family values, community spirit and of course, Fort Hood—the largest military base in the world—it’s no wonder that Killeen is one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities. The community is also home to a weather of updated parks, golf courses, a new regional airport, a civic and conference center, and a diverse population.
