Lodge 88, Houston member King B. Hegwood loads District Five Director Larry W. Pflughaupt’s truck with aluminum can pulltabs to go to the Ronald McDonald House project in Temple, Texas. King’s sister Mary and her husband Charles Gillit, who reside in Livingston, sent their collection home with King and Helen Hegwood after their family visit. Mary and Helen are also members of Lodge 88. This volume of pull-tabs is estimated to be approximately 64 gallons, making it the largest single contribution coming out of
District Five. Add an additional three and one-half gallons of pull-tabs donated by Lodge 139, Danbury member Angela Pieper of Liverpool, Texas, and the total approaches 68 gallons. Thanks to the Gillits, Hegwoods, and Ms. Pieper for their support, time, and energy toward this worthwhile project. RIGHT PHOTO: Thanks to Mary and Charles Gillit for their significant collection efforts. The Gillets also save egg cartons for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank and newspapers for the SPJST Lodge 88, Houston Men’s Club.
