Spring has Sprung By Edwin Wallek, Jr. Lodge 26, Skidmore The signs of coming spring are being fulfilled. Flowers are appearing, trees are leafing out, the Robins have p a s s e d through, and the scissortails have arrived. Every year, two of them take up residence at our house. So I think I can say that spring has arrived! To most of us, it is just another day. Maybe we should celebrate, because we are leaving the dark, cold days of winter behind and entering the
warm, light days of spring. Wednesday, March 21 was the first day of spring which is determined by the Vernal (ver, Latin for spring) Equinox. This year it was on March 21. The next seven years it will be on March 20. The word equinox comes from the Latin words aequus (equal) nox and There are two (night). equinoxes each year. The Please see Spring on page 4.
