Preserving History
LaVerne Vanicek, second from left, and Adeline Kohutek, right, recently presented the SPJST Lodge 47, Seaton Star Hall History Book to the lodge. Accepting are Lodge 47 Secretary Dolores Skrabanek and Vice President Calvin Skrabanek. The book was started many years ago by Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Hejl, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Motl, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spanhel, and Mrs. Annie Jakubec, all deceased. The hall’s first minutes taken in 1903 — all in the Czech language — were found in very good condition. Through much notetaking, LaVerne preserved many memories. Adeline began assisting LaVerne with the project in 2000, and together, they updated the book. Star Hall celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2003, and a historical marker was dedicated in December, 2004.
Teamwork Makes the Difference
District One State Field Representative Bill Orsak, CFFM and District Six State Field Representative Karen Kaspar, FIC, CFFM join efforts to present a continuing education class for sales agents in Districts One and Six. The classes are held at Frank’s Restaurant in Schulenburg each quarter. “We’re all about teamwork in the Insurance Department, and Bill and Karen are a great team,” remarks Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride.
