SFR Lindley and Sales Agents Kick it Up

As our Armed Forces fight to protect our freedom abroad, we’re reminded of the sacrifice made by so many brave soldiers before them. On Veterans Day, we pause to recognize and thank all of the veterans who have served our country. We are eternally grateful for their dedication and service.

SPJST Library, Archives and Museum: Become a Part of History

After many years of col-

lecting and preserving artifacts, genealogical materials, and books pertaining to Czech history and heritage, the SPJST Library, Archives and Museum (dba the Czech Heritage Museum) is on the verge of opening a state-ofthe-art museum and library in a beautiful historic building adjacent to the SPJST Home Office in Temple. This building, which was originally the North Side Community Business Center, was purchased with a generous donation from Louis and Oleta Hanus of Lodge 88, Houston. Extensive preparation has been done and the plans are proceeding on schedule. Estimated costs for

the renovation of the Hanus Building start at $650,000. A wonderful opportunity has been offered to us to help complete this project. A local foundation has offered us a challenge grant of $200,000. To meet the challenge, we must raise another $400,000 in money or firm pledges by December 31, 2006, or the challenge will be nullified. This seems like a daunting task, but we are making progress with fund-raising and hope that there will be an end-of-the-year push for donations or pledges. To date, we have received donations totaling $59,223.88. Funds from the brick sales are not included in this total. We are also working with foundations where we have applied

for grants to help with this project. Right now, you can become a part of history by helping us reach our goal. There are many opportunities to have an area of the museum named after you, or your business, or a loved one, and the name will be displayed on the chosen area in the finished museum. There are naming possibilities in several areas, such as the outdoor learning center and display areas. If you are interested in naming an area of the museum, please contact Sandi Wicker, LAM Administrator. Note that all donations will be recognized permanently in the facility. Please see LAM on page 5.
