Lodge 239, Hondo Reorganizes, Elects Officers ISSN —07458800
Lodge 239, Hondo members gathered on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at the Hondo Community Center to discuss reorganizing the lodge. Vice President Gene McBride called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. He then introduced SPJST state and district representatives — District Seven Director Bob Bayer, Vestnik Editor Melanie Zavodny, State Youth Director John Hoelscher, District Seven State Field Representative Hector Garcia, and District Seven Youth Counselor Wendy Pruski. New lodge officers were elected for the 2006 year. They are: President Xavier Guedea Vice President Sean Young Secretary/Treasurer Celinda Palomo Reporter Felix Palomo, Jr. Youth Leader Bridget Rodriguez Following elections, the

officers were installed by District Seven Director Bayer. Vice President McBride then informed the new officers about meetings, incentives, and audits. Next, State Field Representative Garcia recognized Lodge 239 Sales Agent Tereso Hernandez on his sales production in 2005. Tereso was presented several awards for his accomplishments: third consecutive year as a Million Dollar Producer; District Seven Top Producer in insurance written and applications written;
and State Top Producer in insurance written and applications written. Tereso’s sales in 2005 totaled almost $6 million of insurance written with 118 applications written. State Youth Director John Hoelscher and District Seven Youth Counselor Wendy Pruski met with newly-elected Youth Leader Bridget Rodriguez to discuss the SPJST Youth Program and its activities, including summer camp and Youth Achievement Day. Eight youth club members attended the reorganizational meeting. Door prizes were awarded, and pizza was served. Lodge officers plan to meet to discuss a meeting date and location. Lodge 160, San Angelo hosts Habitat for Humanity Benefit
Lodge 160, San Angelo members gather with the Harlem Ambassador players following the meal that Lodge 160 served to the players. The game featuring the Harlem Ambassadors vs. San Angelo’s “Home” Team was played March 9 at Central High School Gymnasium in San Angelo. Proceeds from the event, which was sponsored by SPJST, went to the Habitat for Humanity of San Angelo, Inc. More photos on page 9.

Cwach and Lodge 183, Arlington member and “Call of Dudy” Filmmaker Jefe Brown, second from left, visited the SPJST Home Office in Temple on March 27. The men toured many Texas Czech communities in March screening the Czech bagpipe documentary film “Call of Dudy.” More photos on page 6.
