SPJST joins with RVOS to benefit Children’s Miracle Network

Barbecue Cook-Off, Car Show and Horseshoe Tournament set for June 25 The weekend of June 24 and 25 will be filled with barbecue, classic cars, horseshoe pitchin’, and children’s activities in Bruceville-Eddy, Texas. SPJST is teaming up with RVOS to host the first-ever Texas Classic in Bruceville-Eddy, located between Temple and Waco off I-35 at Exit 315. The two-day event kicks off on Friday with the Texas Classic Barbecue Cook-Off. The cook-off features more than $5,000 in prize money and trophies for the top 10 places in brisket, spare ribs, and chicken categories. The entry fee is $75 for one or all categories. Another cook-off category is jackpot pinto beans with 80 percent payback and trophies awarded for first, second, and third places. The entry fee for the beans competition is $10.

The barbecue cook-off will be held on the Bruceville-Eddy CookOff Grounds. Limited electricity and water is available to cookers. Cook-off awards will be presented at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The band Lost Wolf will provide F r i d a y e v e n i n g ’s entertainment from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. Food and soft drinks will be available. On Saturday, the Texas Classic Car Show will feature 27 classes of cars including pre-1948, street rods,

Robert finished the 150-mile tour in his personal best time of 15 hours and 20 minutes. Robert says, “I want to thank all my SPJST brothers and sisters who donated to this worthy cause and helped me raise the money that I pledged to raise.”

Chevrolets, Corvettes, Camaros, Chevelles, Ford Mustangs, Thuderbirds, Mopar, Pontiac, Volkswagen, other GM, foreign, trucks, 4 x 4s, and vans/SUVs. First, second, and third place trophies will be awarded in each of the classes. In addition, the top three driver’s choice, the top three people’s choice, and the best of show will be awarded large trophies. A club participation award will be presented to the car club with the most participation.

The entry fee for a vehicle is $20 prior to June 15, and $25 after June 15. The fee includes a tee-shirt and door prize registration. Car show registration is from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and awards will be presented at 4 p.m. The show will take place on a paved parking area. Also, on Saturday, the Texas Classic Horseshoe Tournament begins at 12 noon. The entry fee is $10 per team in the double elimination tournament. Registration is at 11 a.m., and trophies and prizes will be awarded for first through third places. The band Muddcats will play from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday, and attendees will have an opportunity to climb a 40-foot rock throughout the day. (Continued on Page 3.)
