District kings, queens compete for state crowns at State YAD on Saturday have distinguished themselves as winners at the district level. Brief biological sketches of each follow.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! Make plans to attend State Youth Achievement Day Saturday, August 7 Make plans to be in Temple this Saturday, August 7 for the 2004 SPJST State Youth Achievement Day at the Mayborn Convention Center. SPJST youth who received first place honors in their district competitions this summer will be competing at the state level in various competitions, including group and individual talent, nine craft categories, a special category, and youth club poster nd scrapbook. Please refer to the schedule of events on page ten for times. The day begins with opening ceremonies at 1 I a.m. An enchilada lunch, which will include enchiladas, rice, beans, chips/sauce, and tea/lemonade, will be available for $4.50 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other food will be available throughout the day. SPJST youth who received first place honors at their district competitions across Texas this summer will compete at the state level in various competitions, including group and individual talent, nine craft categories, a special category, and youth club poster and scrapbook. Following judging, all crafts, special category projects, posters and scrapbooks will be displayed for the public. (Continued on page 10.)
Special Guest Special guest at this year's SPJST State Youth Achievement Day will be Miss Texas 2004, Jamie Story of Arlington, Texas. She will be available to sign autographs following the royalty competition.
