On Your Mark! Get Set! Apply! The 2004 scholarship application season has arrived! Graduating high school seniors and college undergraduates who have been members of the SPJST for a year or more are invited to submit their requests for scholarship application forms for the 2004 academic year. Established in 1982, the SPJST Scholarship Program is funded by an allocation of the SPJST Supreme Lodge and through contributions by SPJST members. Accordingly, the more funds available, the more scholarships awarded. In 2003, the SPJST awarded a total of 67 scholarships for $67,500 through its scholarship program. To obtain an SPJST General Scholarship application and complete guidelines, please contact the SPJST Home Office at (800) 727-7578 or (254) 773-1575 and ask for the Scholarship Department. encouraged to post important dates on 2004 calendar Please let the Vestnik office know if your lodge would like to list its important dates for 2004 on the official SPJST calendar. It costs you nothing and can be a great reminder for lodge members.
What qualifies as an "important date?" Think in terms of your big annual events such as picnics, member appreciation dinners, heritage day observances and regional events in which your lodge participates: On the district level, think in terms of district meetings and districtwide activities. Please get together with your lodge members at your next lodge meeting and determine which dates you want to include on next year's SPJST calendar. The deadline for submitting your lodge — and district — calendar information to the Vestnik office is September 30.
