Barbecue raises $10,000 for Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas The SPJST Home Office recently presented a check for $10,000 to the Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas. The majority of the funds were raised through the Texas Barbecue Lunch sponsored by the SPJST Home Office in Temple on Thursday, May 22. Almost 1,900 plates were served. The lunch consisted of barbecue brisket, beans, potatoes, coleslaw, pickles, onions, bread, a cookie and bottled water. The goal of the Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas is totassist local agencies, police and Children's Protective Services, in the investigation of child abuse, to reduce the trauma by providing child-focused services for victims and their non-offending family members and to promote child abuse awareness.

SPJST Makes Donation to Children's Advocacy Center SPJST officers, flanked by Home Office staffers and Temple police officers present $10,000 check to Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas representatives at the SPJST Home Office in Temple on June 26. The check represents the proceeds generated by the Texas Barbecue Lunch held on May 22 at the SPJST Home Office in Temple. In addition to the outstanding efforts of the SPJST Home Office personnel who hosted the fund raiser, appreciation is also extended to volunteers from the Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas, Temple Police Department, Belton Police Department, Killeen Police Department, Bell County Sheriff's Office, and Temple College. Several SPJST lodges assisted in the effort, including Lodge 47, Seaton, which prepared the brisket and the beans and Lodge 80, Holland, which prepared the potatoes. In addition, several lodges made cash donations, including Lodge 4, Hallettsville; Lodge 17, New Tabor; Lodge 24, Cyclone; Lodge 29, Taylor; Lodge 32, Victoria; Lodge 35, Elk; Lodge 66, Waco; and Lodge 177, Academy.
