Congratulations to Our 2002 Fraternalists of the Year Stateside Fraternalist of the Year to be announced at Saturday event Every year since 1987, the SPJST has honored its outstanding statewide fraternalists — members who have demonstrated exceptional service to the lodge and community. Local lodge fraternalists are then considered for statewide recognition.

The applications are reviewed and a decision is made by an outside selection committee. The results of that selection process will be announced at the Lodge Recognition and Incentive Banquet this Saturday, February 22 at Lodge 47, Seaton.

—Henry David Thoreau This week's message is directed primarily to our fraternal brothers and sisters who will be attending the Tenth Annual Lodge Recognition and Incentive Banquet at Lodge 47, Seaton on Saturday, February 22.

The honored guests — our lodge officers, sales representatives and dedicated fraternalists — represent the backbone of our fraternal order.

Collectively, this year's honorees have exhibited the qualities of generosity of spirit, personal integrity, strategic thinking, and the willingness to give of themselves. Serving and directing, they have orchestrated lodge events and have made a positive contribution to their communities. Moreover, they also made it a point to introduce their friends and neighbors to the SPJST. "As we think, so we become," the old saying goes. That's so true. The attitude and work ethic displayed by our lodge leaders can make or break a meeting, an event or a lodge.

How they respond to situations makes the difference between the members believing that involvement in the SPJST is going to be a difficult task or believing that it will be enjoyable and satisfying experience. It isn't always easy, but as long as you can keep your eye on the prize — the greater good that your lodge can achieve in the community — you will persevere and you will do good.

Many of our lodges did good in year 2002. I can attest to that, as I've just had the chance to review the list of winning lodges and sales representatives. A total of 78 lodges will be recognized at this year's banquet for having achieved one of eight plateaus of recognition. In each case, the achievement will be acknowledged by the Supreme Lodge with the presentation of a plaque and a check.

May the plaque serve as a reminder to all who enter your meeting hall that your lodge represents much more than a sequentially assigned number in a ledger. It represents the commitment of men, women and in so many lodges, children, working together to effect positive change in the commu-

nity or preserve the cultural heritage of our fraternal order.

And, let's not forget that check!

Goodness knows, every lodge has a worthy project towards which they can channel the proceeds. If you haven't already done so, please consider directing at least a portion of your bounty to a member appreciation celebration, acknowledging your entire lodge team for their gifts of time and energy during the preceding year.

There's another reason why a number of our lodges are doing good: Fraternal life insurance happens to be a great product and service! As such, many of our volunteer sales representatives will also be on the podium to receive recognition for their top-notch sales efforts. We express our gratitude to these dedicated men and women.

Their efforts, however, will not be fully realized until the inevitable moment arrives that the fraternal life insurance certificates that they sold — bring some measure of comfort and relief to the beneficiaries of the certificate holders. Fraternal life insurance — like fraternal activities — represents the banding together of many within the SPJST that each may benefit — and if not now, then somewhere in the future.

Indeed, it will be an honor and a privilege to attend and participate in this year's SPJST Lodge Recognition and Incentive Banquet at Lodge 47, Seaton. Our lodge officers, sales representatives and active members are critical to the success of the SPJST. It's nice to be able to express that to them that in person at least once a year. Hope to see you there!

Expression of Sympathy We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Supreme Lodge President Howard Leshikar and family on the death of his father, Ben E. Leshikar, 91 of Taylor, who passed away on Tuesday, February 11.

Brother Leshikar, who was engaged in farming until his retirement, is survived by his wife of 68 years, Annie; two sons, Howard Leshikar and wife, Mary of Temple, and Robert Leshikar and wife, Bonnie of Spring; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Leshikar were held on Saturday, February 15 at 10 a.m. at the Taylor Brethren Church. Memorials may be made to Taylor Brethren Church.

Dear Members and Friends, The SPJST Youth Program lost a great youth leader and a kind-hearted. truly wonderful person on January 22.

Lodge 18, Elgin Youth Leader Ruby Bowen passed away unexpectedly.

Ruby was the youth leader at Elgin for the past 17 years. She was active in her local lodge and in District Two. Please keep Ruby's family in your thoughts and prayers.

Outreach 2003 Membership Drive The top prize for the youth who recruits the most new members (new applications) is a $250 shopping spree to his/her favorite store. Lodge Letters Section Lodge 6, Cottonwood planning April 6 Easter party Hi! Our meeting was called to order by our President, Brother Johnnie Krizan. Michael Moore led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Traci Dobecka gave the SPJST motto.

Sister Georgie Soukup gave her report of 30 members present.

Welcome to Bonnie Harwood. This was her first meeting since becoming a member. We all had a moment of silence for all departed members, especially Emelia Vochoska who passed away recently.

Sister Barbara Jean Hykel, Secretary, read the minutes from our last meeting. They were approved as read. She also shared correspondences. There were thank you notes from the West Senior Ministry, ARC of McLennan County, Sokol West, and West Volunteer Fire Department relative to their receiving donations.

There was also a thank you note from the John Sulak family for burial wreath.

Sister Barbara also read correspondence regarding Lodge 47, Seaton's 100th Anniversary for Sunday, June 1.

They plan on doing a publication booklet and asked that anyone placing ads in this booklet to please have them in by March 31.

Brother Johnnie called upon Sister Peggy Dobecka for her treasurer's report. It was approved as given.

Brother George Straten, Financial Secretary, was called upon for his report. He reported eight adult and six juvenile members. Thanks to these Sales Representatives—Brother James King (District Two), Brother Johnnie Krizan, and Sisters Ruth Krizan, and Lydia Dobecka.

Brother George also gave the March bookings with our socials being March 7 and 21; RVOS meeting on March 2; and our Trustee's meeting on March 7 at 7:30 p.m. Remember our social this month— February 21.

Sunshine Report Sister Hattie Kaska, Sunshine Committee, gave her report. She reported sending get well cards to Sisters Lydia Dobecka and Georgie Soukup. She also reported sending sympathy cards to David Janda upon the loss of his father; a sympathy card to Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Pavelka, upon the loss of his brother; and the Wilhelmenia Truitt family. Sister Barbara Hykel, Fraternal Activities Coordinator, gave her report of attending a meeting at Lodge 66, Waco in Elm Mott for all FACs. She also mentioned that the 100 Pennies Scholarship Fund Drive is still going on until March 31. She also mentioned that there were two 50-year members in our lodge this year— Brother Bobbie Dobecka and Sister Eugenia Riddle.

Domino Dates Sister Barbara reported two domino tournaments coming up. A straight domino tournament will be held at Lodge 66, Linden Hall, Elm Mott on March 1. There will be a "42" domino tournament coming up for March 22 at Lodge 6, Cottonwood. Be sure and keep these two dates in mind for some good domino playing. She also asked that everyone who was going to attend the awards banquet at Lodge 47, Seaton on February 22, to please let her know.

Brother Johnnie Krizan called upon Brother Jerry Kucera, District Three Sales Representative and member of our lodge, for a report. Brother Jerry spoke to us briefly with a favorable report for our lodge.

Youth Leader, Sister Peggy Dobecka, gave her report of the youth having a great time on their field trip to the SPJST Library, Archives and Museum in Temple, along with their scavenger hunt. She reported they would have their Valentine's party on February 7 and would bake cookies for the Bellmead Family Care Nursing Home. She also reported that they would do their kite flying contest at the next meeting on March 9.

Easter Party April 6 Our Easter party will be coming up soon. It is scheduled for April 6. We will be presenting the 50-year pins to recipients that day. It was also mentioned that we would like to present a 50-year pin to Sister Frances Prikryl of Lodge 167, Penelope. Lodge 167 is no longer an active lodge.

Those in attendance with February birthdays were Sisters Hattie Kaska, Evelyn Stuckly, and Mary Neckar. A happy birthday to these ladies and to all with a birthday this month. Also happy anniversary to you sweethearts this month.

Door prizes were then drawn with the $5 door prize being won by Brother Jerry Kucera. The progressive door prize was drawn, and the winner was Brother Richard D. Hykel (not present). Various other door prizes were exchanged.

23, Moravia to host District Six spring meeting Lodge

8, Weimar reports on January meeting Lodge

SPJST Lodge 8 met January 27, 2003 at Weimar. We had 13 members and four visitors present. Roll call of officers showed the president, Leo Jares, absent. He was attending the TAMIC meeting in Austin. All other officers were present.

Vice President Rosie Shumbera presided at the meeting. We opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our members. The secretary read the minutes of the previous meetings, and the treasurer made her reports of the previous months. All were approved as read.

We received our membership refund for the year 2002. We have increased our membership over the previous year. Thanks to everybody's hard work.

It was announced that we will have two member who will receive 50-year pins this year. They are Raymond Kocian and George Janik. A special presentation will be made at a later date.

A certificate of member transfer for Shirley A. Michna from Lodge 88 to Lodge 8 was read.

Installation officers has been set for the February meeting, and audit of the books will also be done before the February meeting. Erline Janik, Earlene Muenster, and Frank Gruenwald will audit the books.

Lodge 8 also plans to participate in the Weimar Gedenke parade on May 10.

District Six Fall Meeting date has been set for September 7 at the Holman Hall. Lodge 8 will be the host lodge.

Our officers are also planning to attend the annual Lodge Recognition and Incentive Banquet at Seaton on February 22, 2003.

Happy birthday was wished to Earlene Muenster.

Door prizes were distributed and the meeting adjourned.

24, Cyclone reports on February meeting Lodge

Dear Members: After a false start on Sunday because of the untimely demise of a member's mother, Lodge 24 Cyclone met deep inside the lodge home on Monday, February 10 at 7:05 p.m.

President Brian Vanicek called the meeting to order. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance, had the roll call of officers with one absent (the secretary), had the minutes read by the president with approval of the members, and went headlong into the business at hand.

Eugene Hejl is 67 this month, Mason Schneider has a birthday, and Joan Vanicek is 39.

On the sick list is Helen Tome, Joe Haisler and Rudolph Schiller, who had a hip replacement.

Our deepest sympathy goes to Richard Greger for the loss of his mother.

Our lodge purchased a ticket for the Rogers Senior Project Celebration.

We also received a thank you for the youth club for help in their big success

New insurance was accepted for Peggy Jones, Sierra Layne, and Dorothy and Jerry Vitek. Transferred last month were the new officers of Lodge 89, Rosebud. We wish them well and know they will be great fraternalists.

We bought an ad in Lodge 47, Seaton's book, had a long talk about a fund raiser foran adjacent community center, discussed the painting of the inside of the hall at some length, and discussed the fund raiser on Valentine's Day. Our Spring Gala tickets for April 5 will be ready this week.

Elected to receive the Lifetime Achiever Award are Bobby Hoelscher, Wilbert Mikeska, Martha Zavodny, Milton Zavodny, and Harold Vanicek.

Our president and the president of Lodge 47, Seaton are in discussion with the Rogers Superintendent about the taxes.

There may have been more to the meeting; however, the reporter would not know as he went smooth out to sleep for ten minutes. Sleeping on the job has its downside as they passed motions for me to do all types of things.

87, Temple reports on February meeting Lodge

The February 11, 2003 meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by President Dan Kacir. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and a moment of silence for departed members was observed.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Correspondence was read. The treasurer's report was given by Daryl Entrop. There was no old business.

Under new business, Sidney Kacir made a motion to put a congratulatory ad in the souvenir booklet for Lodge 47's 100th birthday celebration.

Motion was seconded by Ed Reisner and was voted on and approved.

Youth to Prepare Meal Youth Leader Pam Capps and the youth of the lodge passed out Valentines to all the adult members.

The youth club will be making and serving the meal for our next meeting to be held on March 11, 2003. The members are asked to bring desserts.

Mrs. Vi Buckley accepted a 75-year member pin for her Aunt Josephine Shine. Mrs. Shine is confined to a nursing home and could not attend the meeting. Mrs. Shine's father was the

first president of Lodge 87.

Lodge 133, San Antonio reports on January meeting Twenty-three members of SPJST Lodge 133, San Antonio met on January 19, 2003. District Seven Director Bob Bayer attended the meeting and addressed the members. He congratulated the lodge on acquiring new members and qualifying for the first step lodge incentive.

Entertainment Chairman Lucille Dlugosh was absent from the meeting.

She broke her hip in January and was in rehabilitation at the time. Evelyn Matula also reported that Gussie Strum was ill. Good well wishes are extended to each of them.

Pictures from the Christmas luncheon and meeting were available for the members to see. The president wishes to thank Pat Keller, the daughter of Bill Mares, for taking the photographs.

The lodge books were audited and Grace Rohan reported that the financial records were accurate. ,President Popp wishes to inform all members of SPJST District Seven that the Spring District Seven Meeting will be held in San Antonio at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Activity Center, 1630 Goliad Road. The December 24 social was started with a meal served at 12 p.m. noon of beef stew, corn bread, and several other side dishes. Gaylynn Thurmond made the stew, and David Zielonka made the corn bread. Other members brought covered dishes. The adults and young members exchanged gifts.

Pictures were taken of the officers of 2002. These being David Zielonka, Frank Hahn, Gaylynn Thurmond, Diana Johnson, and Cheryl Zielonka.

Lodge 200, Bruceville-Eddy met on February 5. President Bob Miracle called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. We had 10 members present and were very happy to welcome two special guests. Youth Leader Belenda Barta stated the date of the Youth Club Rummage Sale is March 15 at the Lion's Club Pavilion in Pleasanton. Youth plan to camp out at the pavilion the night before. Valentine cards made by the youth will be sent to the Supreme Lodge for distribution to nursing homes. Lodge 202 Youth Club will host the District Seven Youth Achievement Day on July 13 at the VFW Hall in Poteet. Youth Club meetings have been changed to 1:30 p.m. each month — the same time the adult lodge meets.

War service medal available to veterans who qualify and apply Korean

(Editor's Note: Jerry Elzner of Lodge 79, Corpus Christi passes along the word that U.S. veterans of the Korean War are now eligible to wear a medal initially offered to them more than 50 years ago, but never issued Elzner, like so many, was eligible and has received his medals.)

In a May 13, 2000, letter to Defense Secretary William S. Cohen, Republic of Korea Defense Minister Seong Tae Cho formally announced that his government would provide the Republic of Korea War Services Medal (ROKWSM) to eligible U.S. veterans of that conflict, or to their surviving next of kin. The medal will be provided at no cost to veterans. The U.S. Air Force has been designated the lead agency to receive and distribute the medals.

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War. Cho wrote, "the ROK government decided to issue the ROKWSM to pay tribute to the Korean War veterans for their historic endeavors to preserve freedom of the ROK and the free world. The two governments will conduct 50th anniversary ceremonies throughout 2000-2003 and medals may be applied for at any time during this period.

The war began on June 25, 1950, when North Korean forces invaded ROK territory. The armistice on July • 27, 1953, ended the fighting, although a formal peace treaty has never been completed.

The medal was originally offered by the ROK in 1951 to United Nations forces serving in Korea and adjacent waters. At the time, U.S. law prohibited the U.S. military from wearing medals issued by foreign governments. Congress changed that

in 1954, but by then, most U.S. service members eligible for the medal had returned home.

In 1998, the government of the Republic of Korea renewed its original offer of the ROKWSM to U.S. military personnel. On August 20, 1999, the Defense Department approved the acceptance and wearing of the medal. Approximately 1.8 million U.S. veterans of the Korean War are eligible to receive it. Next of kin to eligible deceased Veterans can so apply for the medal. To wear this medal on U.S. military uniforms, U.S. military personnel must have: • served between the outbreak of hostilities, June 25, 1950, and the date the armistice was signed, July 27, 1953; • been on permanent assignment or on temporary duty for 30 consecutive days or 60 non-consecutive days, and • performed their duty within the territorial limits of Korea in the waters immediately adjacent thereto or in aerial flight over Korea participating in actual combat operations or in support of combat operations.

To apply, veterans must provide a copy of their discharge paper, commonly known as DD-214; or a corrected version of that document, DD215. National Guard members must provide their statement of service equivalent, NGB Form 22.

We, the Resolution Committee of SPJST Lodge 28 in East Bernard, Texas, on behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our deepest sympathy to the family of our departed sister, EVELYN FOJTIK, who resided in Schulenburg. She died on Sunday, December 29 at 4:05 p.m. at Colorado-Fayette Medical Center in Weimar after a two-year illness. She reached the age of 79 years, and two months.

The funeral was held at United Evangelical Lutheran Church at Swiss Alp on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 1 p.m. followed by interment in the Salem Memorial Cemetery at Freyburg. Officiating was Reverend Clarence Ehler.

We, the undersigned Resolution Committee of SPJST, Lodge 47, Seaton on behalf of the officers and entire membership, wish to express our deepest sympathy to the surviving family of our dear departed member, MILADIE MIKESKA MALCIK, 97 of Cameron who passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003 in a Cameron hospital.

Mrs. Malcik was born in Red Ranger to Frank and Rozina Stasny Mikeska, where she lived until she moved to Cameron. She was married to Ignac Malcik on December 26, 1922, and he preceded her in death in 1966. A son, I.J. Malcik, also preceded her in death.

She was a housewife and helped her

husband in farming until he died.--She was a member of SPJST Lodge 47 in Seaton and the Brethren Church.

Surviving are sons, Frank and wife, Edna of Red Oak; Johnnie and wife, Marcella of Temple; Edwin and wife, Helen of Red Ranger; daughter, Georgia and husband, Joe Kopriva of Cameron; brother, Rudolph Mikeska and wife, Hilda of Temple; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was on Friday, January 31 in Sheffield Funeral Home in Rogers. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at Sheffield Funeral Home in Rogers on Saturday, February 1 with Reverend John Bravenec officiating.

Burial was in the Seaton Cemetery.

Sheffield Funeral Home of Rogers was in charge of all arrangements.

In Memory of Della Mueller Philips Della Mueller Philips was born January 6, 1914 in Flatonia, Texas to Leo E. Mueller and Vlasta Hodanek Mueller. She passed away January 12, 2003 in Boerne, Texas. She was a member of SPJST Lodge 88, Houston.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2003 at DavisGreenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg, Texas with Deacon Don Ries officiating. Interment was at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Pallbearers were Ronald Taylor, Rory Philips, Joel Philips, Bubba Blackwell, Wally Norwood, and Leonard Law. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. Philips; parents, Leon and Vlasta Mueller; son in-law, William Taylor; and sister, Hilda Law. Della is survived by daughter, Jo Nell Taylor of Boerne, Texas; son, Larry Philips and wife, Patricia of Montogmmery, Texas; grandchildren, Ronald Taylor, Pam Vaughan, Lori Blackwell and husband, Bubba, Rory Philips and wife, Ginger, Lisa Norwood and husband, Wally, and Joel Philips; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Brother Kopetsky died at the Colton Inn Health Care Center.

He was born in Brazos County and lived most of his life in the Macey community. He resided in Bryan for the past seven years. He was a shop foreman for Brazos County. School District Transportation Department.

He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Robertson County and a member of the SPJST Lodge 94, Wheelock since 1932.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie Kopetsky.

Survivors include sons and daugh ters in-law, Don H. and Janie Kopetsky of Bryan and Bobby G. and Debbie Kopetsky of Pflugerville; brother in-law, Jim Stocker and wife, Jo, of Bryan; sisters in-law, Martha Novosad of Bryan, Della Kopetsky of Franklin and Ruth Saunders and husband, Paul, of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Both Viola and husband, Frank, were active members of the lodge until illness forced them to discontinue attending the meetings. We have missed them! Viola was a devoted wife and mother.

On April 2, 1960, Mrs. Hoover was united in marriage with Vernon F. "Sonny" Hoover, who survives her.

She is also survived by children, Roland N. Cason, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; Nancy Lacombe of Green Forest; Jo Ann and husband, Stephen Szoke of Berryville, Arkansas; and Sherry and husband, Brian Hunter of McQueeney, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 14, 2002, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Montgomery officiating. Interment was in the VA National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

SPJST SPJST Statewide Camp It's the "ultimate spring vacation" and a great opportunity for SPJST members to discover all of the fun that SPJST offers.

All SPJST members are invited to the Second Annual SPJST State Camp on Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m. to Sunday, March 30 at 12 noon.

Participants will spend much of their weekend climbing the 50-foot Alpine Tower, creating arts and crafts projects, playing games as well as many other great activities that Green Family Camp offers.

Join us for the SPJST State Camp 2003 and you will return home with memories of a weekend that you will certainly not soon forget. Camp fees are $70 per person which include all meals, snacks, and programs from Friday evening snack to Sunday lunch. Housing will be in camper cabins. District contests will be held at each district's spring meeting.

Meeting dates are as follows: District One—April 13 District Two—March 16 District Three—April 27 District Four—April 27 District Five—March 2 District Six—March 23 District Seven—May 18 What is it?

The 2003 Christmas Card Contest is sponsored by SPJST to encourage youth members to be creative and express their artistic talents. The winning designs will be the official Christmas cards for the SPJST Home Office.

These SPJST Christmas Cards will also be available for purchase.

Who can enter?

SPJST members ages six to high school senior may enter.

Judging Designs will be judged on the design's overall appearance and appeal, creativity and originality, and ability to reproduce on a Christmas card.

One design in each age category will be selected at each district's spring meeting and sent to the SPJST Home Office. A total of four designs (one in each age category) will be selected for the 2003 SPJST Christmas Cards.

The Rules • Submit entry on an official entry form (available from SPJST youth leaders or the State Youth Director) or draw your design in an 8 1/2-inch by 5 1/2-inch space on a sheet of plain, white paper. Design size must be 8 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches. This is equivalent to a regular sheet of typing paper folded in half.

Designs may be drawn either horizontal or vertical.

Awards State Awards • Ages 6 to 8 $100 U.S. Savings Bond and design on Christmas cards

• Use ink, magic markers, crayons, or paint. No pencils and no additions (cut-outs, glitter, etc.).

• Ages 9 to 11 $100 U.S. Savings Bond and design on Christmas cards

• Entries must be freehand originals created by the youth member. No computer-designed entries accepted.

• Ages 12 to 14 $100 U.S. Savings Bond and design on Christmas cards • Ages 15 to High School Senior $100 U.S. Savings Bond and design on Christmas cards Participation Awards All Christmas Card Contest participants will receive a participation certificate and 20 merit points. Dear Readers, Yesterday, February 9, the Youth Club of Lodge 84 went and performed the "Little Red Handkerchief" and "Annie in the Cabbage Patch" dances at St. Joseph's Nursing Home. All the residents enjoyed our performance, and we had fun, too.

Afterwards, we went to the Spaghetti Warehouse in the WestEnd and ate lunch and held a short meeting to discuss other activities we are having.

Don't forget next Monday, February 17, the mother lodge of SPJST 84 is holding its monthly meeting and initiation of new members.

A potluck dinner will be served, but please bring a dessert to be enjoyed.

He spoke on the coming events that will be at the lodge and how important it will be to have all the youth involved at the District Three Spring Meeting on April 27 and at the District Three Youth Achievement Day that the lodge will be hosting on June 22.

Our district Two Youth District Two Youth Counselor (DYC) Patsy Koslovsky was there and talked about Youth Achievement Day (YAD) which is at Holland, and she also talked about State Carnp.

Important dates are District Two lock-in February 15; Incentive Banquet is February 22; District Two Spring Meeting is March 16; State Camp is March 28 - 30; District Two YAD is July 27.

Birthdays this month are Michael Heise and Elizabeth Hoelscher.

Our next meeting is March 4 at 6:30 (Tuesday night). The meeting was adjourned at 3 p.m.

Dear Members, The youth club of Lodge 84, Dallas danced at St. Joseph's Nursing Home on Sunday, February 9. We all had a good time, and we gave out carnations to those nice people who lived there.

Afterwards, we went and ate spaghetti at the Spaghetti Warehouse in the West End. I didn't get any sauce on me either. We also held a short meeting to make plans for March.

Next Monday, February 17, the mother lodge will be serving dinner before the monthly meeting. Also new members will be initiated. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and you are asked to bring a dessert.
