SPJST 100 pennies scholarship drive donations top $16,000 mark There have been 645 donations made to the 2002-2003 SPJST 100 Pennies Scholarship Fund Drive. Donations to date are $16,027.58. Thank you for our generous gifts. Because of your continued generosity, many SPJST members will be able to attend or continue with college. The fund drive continues through. March 31. 4, Hallettsville's Joe Siptak donates proceeds of HEB community service award to SPJST scholarshi p fund Lodge

Brother Joe Siptak of Lodge 4, Hallettsville recently attended the DEB Awards Banquet in San Antonio, Texas held at the Oak Hills Country Club where he was one of three recipients of the David Ashworth Community Service Award. Brother Siptak was nominated for the award by his fellow employees at the Bay City HEB store. Brother Siptak received the award based on the many hours that he spends on volunteer work in the Bay City and Hallettsville communities. In conjunction with the award, Joe received an accompanying $1,000 cash award to donate to his favorite charity. Joe directed his prize to go to the SPJST Scholarship Fund.

Brother Siptak is active as secretary of the Bay City Evening Lions Club, secretary for the Bay City Little League, president of Lodge 4, Hallettsville, president of SPJST District Six, president of the Vsetin Czech-Moravian Brethren Church, president of the Vsetin Cemetery Association, member of the Tidehaven Band Boosters, member of the Tidehaven Athletic Boosters, and a member of the Matagorda Livestock Show and Rodeo. Congratulations and thanks to Brother Siptak for his generous gift of time to the SPJST and his community. Likewise, thanks to Joe for sharing his prize with the SPJST Scholarship Fund. —SPJST-
