SPJST aims to cultivate success with '03 campaign If Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride has anything to say about it — and he does — 2003 will be another banner year for the SPJST in terms of insurance sales performance. Preliminary reports indicate that more than 2,500 applications were written in 2002. The number represents a five percent increase over the 2,379 applications written in 2001. Applications for insurance written over the last two years represent a significant leap in production when compared to production statistics in the years preceding 2001. "The fact that we were able to improve our numbers in '02 helps affirm that the increase we experienced in '01 wasn't a fluke," says Brother McBride. "It demonstrates the power of establishing clearly defined goals and objectives and working to achieve them." "That sounds simple — and it is — but it also represents the demonstrated commitment of our volunteer sales force, lodges and youth clubs, Home Office personnel, directors and officers." "Last year at this time, I indicated

that we were looking for a repeat performance in 2002. It pleases me to no end to say in 2003, we are looking for a 'three-peat," says Brother McBride. "We do it this year and that demonstrates a trend — demonstrating to our members, prospective members and the financial market that the SPJST remains a solid, growing business. 2003 Membership Campaign The theme of the 2003 membership campaign is "Outreach 2003 — Development and Growth Cultivating Success." As in the two prior years, the membership campaign is loaded with incentives for lodges and youth clubs, sales representatives, lodge officers and lodge members — both old and young. The 2003 incentive program is outlined as follows:
Application Quota The application quota for the state is 2,205 applications for the year January 1, 2003 - December 31, 2003. This number reflects a five percent increase over the 2002 statewide quota. The state must meet the 2,205 application quota and the lodge must achieve its individual lodge quota before incentives are awarded. Individual lodge quotas are posted on page three. Lodge Incentives For each lodge that achieves its lodge quota and the State achieves 2,205 applications, the lodge will receive 1 1/2 times its lodge incentive amount. All lodges that exceed their quotas by 50 percent will receive two times their lodge incentive amount. Lodge Officer Incentives
instead of five — will be awarded. As in the past, it will be the responsibility of the local lodge officers to evaluate their need for more sales representatives. They are strongly encouraged to accept new sales representatives recruited from among their members. Lodge officers are also being asked to take part in recruitment of new sales representatives and allow field representatives time to promote the campaign. Lodges are encouraged to participate in monthly sales promotions. • Lodges should allow time during each meet. ing for members to complete membership referral cards. Lodges should set up processes to welcome new members inviting them to the lodge. Lodges should actively promote fraternal activities, youth and youth club activities. Contact civic officials, elected officials. Bring a neighbor/friend to a meeting or social that is a prospect for membership. Encourage lodge to have a social. List relatives (children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, etc.) who are not members to have them contacted. • Focus on members' children and their spouses who have not joined the SPJST.
"Applications for insurance written over the last two years represent a significant leap in production."
The lodge officers who promote the sales of SPJST life insurance and support the Outreach 2003 program will be rewarded. Lodges will have their names put into a drawing and the winners will be awarded cash prizes. The value will be assessed according to the category the lodge wins in the incentive program. The number of awards will be determined after the final count of qualifying lodges at the end of 2003. The formula will award one cash award for every four qualifying lodges per category. If there are extra lodges in a category, an extra award will be awarded in that category. The cash award will be paid directly to the winning lodge to be divided equally among each lodge officer. For example, if at the end of 2003, the First Step category has 21 qualifying lodges, then six cash awards —
Sales Representative Incentives Upon meeting individual quotas, sales representative will receive an award per application at the end of the year, December 31. Also, sales representatives who meet their quotas on a quarterly basis will have their names put into a drawing for a computer or $1,000 cash award. Four computers (Continued on page 5.)
