Guaranteed life insurance coverage available to current members for a limited time D o you have a total of $5,000 or less SPJST insurance? If so, look in your mailbox. You'll soon be receiving information from SPJST about additional "Guaranteed" insurance that you can purchase in amounts of $2,000, $3,000, $4,000 or $5,000 of coverage. Each letter is personalized with premiums based on the member's current age. According to Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride, quite a few SPJST members have $5,000 or less insurance and which is not enough in today's world for funeral and final expenses. Because of this, SPJST is making a special offer available to those members and offer additional "guaranteed" insurance. This coverage is available regardless of their past or current health. Members have 120 days from the date of the letter to respond. No Waiting Period Another unique feature is that there is no waiting period for full coverage unlike some companies that require the certificate be in force for two or three years before the full death bene fit is available. "We've had members call us that have received the letter asking if there is a waiting period. There is none. The full death benefit is in effect after we receive the first full premium in the Home Office. The premiums are based on smoker/non-smoker and male/female categories," according to McBride. On the Road With SPJST The SPJST kicked off its fledgling travel program on July 25 with a mid-week get-away to the Isle of Capri Casino in Bossier City Louisiana. Forty members and guests representing eight SPJST lodges enjoyed the outing which included an overnight stay. SPJST travelers looking for a more exotic destination are encouraged to see page seven for details on a cruise departing from Galveston for five nights going to Cozumel and Calic/Cancun. Lodge 47, Seaton member Milady Malcik achieves the "Grand Age of 96" The SPJST congratulates Sister Milady Malcik, a member of Lodge 47, Seaton, who celebrated her 96th birthday on August 28, 2001. As such, Sister Malcik is entitled to all SPJST member benefits with no further dues or assessments required. Milady Malcik was born on August 28, 1905 in Red Ranger, Texas. Her parents were Frank Mikeska of Taylor and Rosie Stastny Mikeska, who immigrated to Texas from Moravia. Milady was one of nine children. Five sisters and two brothers are deceased. Her brother, Rudoph Mikeska, lives in Temple, Texas.

Milady married Ignac Malcik, Sr. on December 26, 1922, in Temple, Texas. The Malciks lived in Red Ranger where Milady helped on the farm and made a comfortable home for her family. She loved her hobbies — quilting, embroidery, cooking and baking kolaches for family and Milady Malcik friends. The Malciks had five children. Georgia Kopriva (husband, Joe) of Cameron, Texas; Frank Malcik (wife Edna) of Red Oak, Texas; Johnnie Malcik (wife, Marcella) of Temple, Texas; and Edwin Malcik (wife, Helen) of Red Ranger, Texas. Brother Ignac Malcik, Jr. passed away August 26, 1998. (Continued on page 3.)
