100 Pennies Scholarship Drive closing in on goal Through February 14, 736 donations totaling $10,087.79 have been made to the SPJST's 2000-2001 100 Pennies Scholarship Drive. Thanks to everyone who for their generous donations! With a little more than three weeks to go in this year's drive, the goal — $14,000 — remains well within reach. Way to Go, Gussie! Congratulations to Sister Gussie Spacek, center, of Lodge 202, Jourdanton who was honored as the SPJST Statewide Fraternalist of the Year at the SPJST Lodge Recognition Banquet held February 24 at Lodge 24, Cyclone. Awardwinning lodges are recognized in this issue, beginning on page 12. Top-producing sales representatives for the year 2000 will be pictured next week.
Mission 2100 goals, incentives outlined at statewide briefing more than 350 fraternalists, representing SPJST lodges from across the state, turned out for the Mission 2100 Briefing and Lodge Recognition and Incentive Banquet held Saturday, February 24 at Lodge 24, Cyclone. "For Mission 2100 to succeed, we must involve all levels of the SPSJT towards achieving these energetic goals," said SPJST Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride, principal architect of the plan which seeks to generate at least 2,100 new member certificates in the year 2001.
Vice President McBride, accompanied by State Youth Director Melanie Zavodny, outlined the program and incentives offered. Incentive guidelines are as follows: Local Lodge Incentives Provided that the SPJST meets the 2,100 application quota and the lodge achieves its individual lodge quota, the lodge will receive one-and-a-half times its lodge incentive award amount. For example, if a lodge has a quota of 25 new members (Gold Award) and meets its quota and the SPJST achieves 2,100 applications, the local lodge will receive $1,000 x 1.5 = $1,500. Lodge quotas are posted on page three of the Vestnik. Monthly lodge progress reports will be posted in the Vestnik.
