Gene McBride accepts duties of Vice President effective August 1 (Editor's. Note: As a result of actions taken during the July Supreme Lodge meeting, State Field Manager Gene McBride, who was elected Vice President at the Twenty-Eighth SPJST Convention, will begin serving as Vice President effective August 1. Vice President Leonard Mikeska will assist Brother McBride, serving in an advisory capacity, through year's end.)
Message from Vice President Leonard Mikeska Dear Members, On August 1, 2000, the position of SPJST Vice President will officially be transferred to Gene McBride. The transition is approved by the Supreme Lodge and complies Leonard Mikeska with the by-laws. Gene McBride will assume full responsibility for the position on August 1 and I will continue to be available to assist with an orderly transition at the request of Vice President McBride. I am very pleased to see the vice presidency being filled by Gene McBride. He has worked hard and I think he deserves the position. He and Frances will represent us very well. Message from Vice President-Elect Gene McBride Dear Members, August 1 is just around the corner. That will be my first day as your Vice President. I am so excited to serve you as Vice President of the SPJST. I thank all of the delegates and lodges for their support in electing me to this position. I must say that I am honored. In my 22 years working with the SPJST, I have been very fortunate to have worked under two Vice Presidents — Bernie Gebala, from 1978 to 1994; and Leonard Mikeska, from 1994 to 2000 — who have both been great leaders. They have offered much guidance in preparing me for Gene McBride the vice presidency. I strongly believe in the SPJST and it goals. I will do everything I can to uphold SPJST's high ideals. I will make my decisions based on what is
