SPJST mourns loss of Cyrill "Sid" Pokladnik Brother Cyrill "Sid" Pokladnik, who retired as Director of SPJST District Three and of the SPJST Supreme Lodge in January 1997, died Wednesday, September 22, 1999. He was 86 years old. He was born on October 21, 1912 in a small village outside of Brno in what is now the Czech Republic. For 32 years, Brother Pokladnik served as director of District Three, accumulating an extraordinary number of life expereinces along the way. "I enjoyed every minute of it," he reflected in a Vestn'k article following his retirement. During his tenure as director, Mr. Pokladnik saw SPJST assets increase eightfold, from $14 millin 1965 to $119 million at the end of 1996. During „„. the same period, Poklac:3..c insurance in force increased from $44 million in 1965 to more than $390 million at the end of 1996. "Brother Sid's death represents the end of an era in the SPJST," said Supreme Lodge Vice President Leonard Mikeska, a long-time friend and fellow Supreme Lodge member. "He cared very deeply about the SPJST and was a key player in building the bridge between our Society's first- and second-generation fraternalists and the leadership of today.

"He was so much part of the SPJST that it's hard to imagine what it would have been like without him." District Three Director Johnnie Krizan echoed these sentiments, "For me, as a youngster growing up in the SPJST to the present, Sid Pokladnik has been synonymous with SPJST. Every milestone or major innovation advanced by the Society within the last 40 years — Sid was there as a major player," he said. "His talent and love for the SPJST contributed immensely to our success as a fraternal. In this respect, he was a giant of a man who left us with a legacy to follow and preserve. "To be a great leader and make the tough decisions, people sometimes will disagree with you. But, in the long un, they will come to respect you for he character you have for doing what you thought was right rather than what was easy. This is what I admired about Brother Pokladnik because I knew him to be a fair and honorable man," said Brother Krizan.

Fraternal Commitment During his long association with the SPJST, Brother Pokladnik also served as one of the founding directors of the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Taylor and Needville, Texas. In fact, he helped to underwrite the construction of the Needville facility. A member and past President of SPJST Lodge 84, Dallas, he was also a (Continued on page 3.)

Expression of Sympathy The SPJST lost one of its greatest boosters on September 22 when Brother Sid Pokladnik, 86, died in Dallas. Brother Pokladnik brought many years of service to the SPJST, having served in virtually every leadership capacity along the way, including Supreme Lodge Chaiiinan. That's how I came to know him: As the gentleman at the head of the table who presided at Supreme Lodge meetings. It was a responsibility which he relished and carried out with great vigor and decisiveness. I admired Brother Sid's strong work ethic. He knew that pursuing dreams in his business or in his involvement with the SPJST required work - mental, emotional and physical. Brother Pokladnik did what it took to see success through. Rudolph's Market in Dallas, the Czech Educational Foundation of Texas, S.P.J.S.T. Rest Homes and the Dallas Czech Concert Orchestra remain as testaments to his commitment. They live on. Even in his retirement - at age 84 - from the Supreme Lodge in 1997, Brother Sid stayed involved - attending local and district meetings and keeping tabs on the affairs of the Society. As he explained to me on one occasion, you don't just walk away from a "lifetime labor of love." "One of the things I miss - I suppose - is the day-to-day excitement and all the wonderful people I got to meet and know along the way," he said. My fondest memory of Brother Sid was during that first summer of his retirement at the picnic he and his wife, Justine, hosted for members of Lodge 84, Dallas at their lake house on Cedar Creek. Upon our arrival, Brother Sid greeted my family with open arms. A cordial host, he made sure we knew where everything was - including the backyard swings for our children. After excusing himself, he appeared a few minutes later with two wading pools. "What do you think?," he said, smiling, "Maybe the youngsters would like to go swimming?" It was a good day. Brother Pokladnik's contributions to his society and to the fraternal benefit system have been invaluable. His dedication and support to the fraternal way of life will be missed. I know that I speak for many in extending heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of our departed brother. May he rest in peace.

Something New: SPJST Term for Life The latest round of SPJST sales classes is preparing our local lodge sales representatives market the new "SPJST Term for Life" insurance program. The coverage, which can be issued between the ages of 18 and 70, combines elements of both term and whole life insurance. SPJST Term for Life provides permanent type level coverage to age 99 at "quasi-level premiums" without generating cash values. Based on the age at issue, premiums increase by four percent every four years to and including the next renewal at or after age 80. The premium will then increase by one percent every year thereafter to age 99. The new plan offers several advantages, including:

"He knew that pursing dreams in his business or in his involvement with the SPJST required work."

• Level lifetime coverage to age 99; • Premiums which start at less than half of a guaranteed whole life premium; and • Guaranteed maximum premiums. SPJST's Term for Life could be the plan for you. For a no obligation price quote, contact your local lodge sales representative or the Insurance Department at the SPJST Home Office by dialing 1 (800) 727 - 7578. Either way, do yourself a favor and see what SPJST has to offer you in the way of competitive life insurance coverage.

Expression of Sympathy Heartfelt condolences are extended to SPJST Finance Committee Secretary Rita Vanek and her family and friends, on the death of her husband, Frankie, 63, who passed away on Thursday, September 23. Brother Vanek, who was a member of Lodge 151, Wharton is also survived by two daughters, Kim Vanek of Arlington and Amanda Vanek of College Station; and two brothers, SPJST District Six Director and Supreme Lodge Chairman Matt Vanek of Victoria and Edwin Vanek of San Antonio. Funeral services for Brother Vanek were held Saturday morning, September 25 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Hillje, May he rest in peace. -SPJST-

"Sid" Pokladnik (Continued from page 1.) member of the Sons of Hermann, KJT, Knights of Columbus, Dallas-Ennis Fraternal Council and American Sokol. He is also a past director of the Czech Educational Foundation of Texas. He was the original — and for thirty years, until 1998 — the only musical director of the Dallas Czech Concert Orchestra. In recent years, Brother Pokladnik resurrected Lodge 84's annual picnic, hosting and cooking barbecue for everyone in August at his lake house on Cedar Creek. In addition to his involvement with SPJST, Mr. Pokladnik played an active role in the affairs of the Texas Fraternal Congress (TFC), serving as President of the group. The TFC is the statewide trade association of fraternal benefit societies licensed to operate in Texas. On a national level, Mr. Pokladnik was an active player in the affairs of the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA), serving as President of the NFCA's Fraternal Section. Successful Businessman Brother Pokladnik's business ventures have produced a legacy that lives on. As the owner of Rudolph's Market and Sausage Factory, Brother Pokladnik built the sausage shop into a major restuarant supplier in the Dallas and Fort Worth area in the 1940s. Rudolph's has been named the "Best Meat Market in Dallas" by The Dallas Times Herald, The Dallas Morning News, D Magazine and is currently listed in The Dallas

Shopping Guide, available at fine book stores, as the only market listed under gourmet foods. In addition, Brother Pokladnik was a past nominee for the Linz Award for civic contributions in dallas, and received awards as conservationist, running a 1000-acre cattle ranch, breeding mainly Black Angus. He and Rudolph's Market have long been members of the Southwest Meat Packers Association and the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. In 1998, he was named SPJST Fratemalist of the Year. The following passage appeared in the Fraternalist of the Year nomination form submitted by Lodge 84, Dallas, "Cyrill Poklanik's dream since his birth in a small village outside of Brno in 1912 was to be the best he could be and to give his life in service to others. He has managed to sustain this dream in every commitment. "Along with his family and career, the biggest recipient of his time has been the SPJST. His passion to see this great fraternal organization be the best it can be never wavered and he was always proud to have been a major part of its success." Brother Pokladnik is survived by his wife of 65 years, Justine; one daughter, Justine Marie Yeager and her husband, Doug; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son, John, passed away in 1995. Funeral services for Brother Pokladnik were at held on Monday, September 27 at St. Pius Catholic Church in Dallas. Memonal donations may be made to SPJST Lodge 84, 2625 Floyd Street, Dallas, Texas 75204. —SPJST-

Universal Life. Tailored to Meet Your Needs. Universal Life has been called many things: • A Computer-Age Plan •• A New Concept in Life Insurance • A Plan Custom-Designed for Each Insured • The Plan of the Future

It's all of these things — and more. Here are some of the features of SPJST's Universal Life contract, which we call our "SPJST Flexible Protector Plan": Step 1: You elect an amount of insurance and select Death Benefit Option A or B (as described below). You can also select the amount of premium you want to pay and make the initial payment. Step 2: As each premium is received by SPJST, a small expense charge is deducted and the balance goes into your cash value account.

Step 3: At the beginning of each month, a charge for the life insurance protection is deducted from the cash value to pay the monthly life insurance protection costs. Step 4: Interest at current rates is credited to the fund each month.

Coverage is Flexible. You have a choice of two death benefits, Option A or Option B: Option A: Level Death Benefit. The death benefit is made up of life insurance and the cash value. Initially, this benefit is equal to the face amount. However, current tax law states that there must always be a certain minimum proportion of life insurance in the certificate. Therefore, as

the cash value approaches the face amount, the death benefit increases automatically. Option B : Increasing Death Benefit. The death benefit is equal to the face amount of life insurance protection plus the money in the cash value account.

to Joe Hurtik, Sr., Lynn Wedell, Ernest Dueser and Ella Hilcher. The District Three Meeting being hosted by our lodge on October 24 was discussed. A Memorable Trip: Cruising to Alaska with the Vrazels PART II by Frances Bollom

We docked and Henrietta and Jaro and Bill and I went dashing off to take a tour called "Haines by Land and Sea." That was the most exciting and frightening time of the whole cruise! We started out with the bus tour of the town of Haines and a very interesting tour it was with a visit to the American Bald Eagle Museum where we took a lot of pictures and learned more about the frozen North. Then we went to a point where we hope we got some good pictures of our ship and the town. From there, we headed for rendezvous with the boat which took us on our tour by sea. We boarded the boat. There were about 28 of us on board with the Nevluds and Bolloms being the only ones from the Vrazel group. Captain Leslie, a very interesting and knowledgeable young woman of about 35, was at the helm and made our tour a most enjoyable one. We had been told that on this tour we might see whales, sea lions and bald eagles. She pulled up as close to shore as she could so that we might view the hundreds of sea lions on shore in a protected cove. We took pictures, but the sea lions were so much the color of the rocky shore, we didn't expect too much from the pictures. She and her crew pointed out bald eagles sitting in the tree tops or flying overhead. The whale watching almost turned out to a disaster! The captain headed for the area where the whales were diving in and out of the water and spraying little geysers of water. We were cruising slowly, enjoying the sight and I was just thinking, "I hope one of these big dudes doesn't pop under our boat," when—whump! We jolted to a stop as if we had hit a brick wall. Henrietta saw the whale's

tail hit the front windows of the boat. Water splashed all over the top of the boat. Bill was enjoying a cup of coffee and it went flying across the floor. The people watching from the top of the boat got splashed. We sat there motionless for a while, collecting our thoughts. Captain Leslie and her crew checked to make sure the boat was okay. Then we proceeded very carefully, thanking the good Lord for our good fortune—we were in 1400 feet of water. Bill remarked, "Even 200 feet of water would have been a disaster had we sprung a leak." The captain remarked, "In my six years as captain, this has never happened to me." She was very composed, but white as a sheet. One of the crew told me later that they saw some whale skin floating atop the water after we hit the poor fellow. Our captain said she is sure the whale was okay otherwise. We were due back on the ship at 10:30 and we boarded at 10:32. At 11 p.m., we sailed for Ketchikan. After this incident, our fellow Texans called us the "whale killers." On Friday, we sailed all day and danced from 1 to 3 p.m. to the music of our Vrazel Band. What a great time! On Saturday, we arrived in Ketchikan at 8 a.m. and went ashore for a tour of Ketchikan and the Totem Bight Historical Park where we viewed many totem poles and learned about the meaning of the different carvings on the poles. We also toured a clan house. Our bus driver/guide was a most interesting Eskimo lady who had moved from Bethel, Alaska, near the Bering Sea where she grew up. She married a Tlingit Indian and has lived in Ketchikan since her marriage. After the tour, we went back to the ship to eat lunch and then headed back into town to, what else, shop! By this time, we were loaded with souvenirs and we were wondering how we would get it all home, but we kept shopping anyway. (To be concluded next week)

"Henrietta saw the whale's tail hit the front windows on the boat. Water splashed all over the top of the boat."

Youth

Letters Section District One campers experience challenge and surprise at camp District One Camp was a huge success. What a wonderful camping experience for everyone attending! A total of 93 campers, leaders and chaperones attended this year's camp at Camp Val Verde on July 19th - July 22nd. Among the 93 were 26 first time SPJST campers. Many of the new campers responded to the letter that was sent to the inactive youth of District One and I am happy to report that the majority of these are now attending monthly youth club meetings. Thanks to these fine young members for taking a chance to see what the SPJST has to offer. Fun and Surprises Camp was filled with many fun and exciting activities. Camp pictures were taken upon arrival and Mrs. Ann made sure everyone made a nice frame to put them in and take home. We also had a surprise visitor our first day but we won't go into that. Mrs. Pat from campfire also visited with us the first day. The first night we held our "annual" hot dog cook-out at the river. Thanks to Randy and Ralph for grilling the hot dogs and for all those that helped serve. Tuesday morning, campers eleven and older enjoyed a morning at the challenge course. Theyclimbed the wall, jumped off the power pole, and walked the grapevine. After all that strenuous exercise, they all went to Waco and enjoyed watching "Big Daddy." The younger campers stayed at camp and made homemade ice-cream in a coffee can. A Break from the Heat We were surprised by a visit from District I Director Donnie Victorick. All enjoyed the cookies and cokes he brought along. Thanks, Mr. Victorick, for spending time with us. The night ended with a "Come as You Were Party." Youth attended dressed as babies and the LIT's had competitive games for the campers to play. We had a crawling contest, a bottle sucking contest, a diaper relay and a "baby-food" eating contest. All who participated had a great time. On Wednesday, the younger campers went to the movies and all saw "Tarzan." It was sure nice to set in the air-conditioning for a couple of hours. On Wednesday night we welcomed President Leshikar, State Youth Director Melanie Zavodny and District Two member Tammy Baker. Thanks for spending time with us at camp. Wednesday night's actvities included a visit from Charles Wheeler, an astronomer from Temple. Enthusiastic campers had the opportunity to view the craters on the moon and look at Mars and Venus with his powerful teiescope. All brave souls

then went on a night scavenger hunt planned by assistant District Youth Counselor Holly Narro and the LIT's. On Thursday morning we were once again entertained by the antics of the LIT's, the traditional underwear flag was flying high at sunrise. After group picture taking, we loaded up and headed home for some much needed rest. A big thank you to all of the adults who took the time out of their busy schedules to help make District One Camp an enjoyable and memorable epereince for ur youth members. A special thanks to Ethel rife for serving as lifeguard and to my assistants, Ann Schoeneman and Holly narro for all their help. We'll do it again next year. District Two campers

mix fun and rain at Camp Val Verde Dear Readers, Anyone needing rain? Let District Two campers plan to spend a few days at Camp Val Verde and the rain will come. I spent a few minutes visiting with Nancy McClaren of McGregor just a few days before our district camp. She talked of how dry everything was on their farm. I assured her McGregor would have rain in a few days even though the chance was slight. Well, the prediction was correct. Once again, three years in a row, it rained during our camp. We know that the rain was much appreciated though. Our campers handled it very well. New Faces, LITs We had a wonderful camp!! Our numbers were up and there were many new faces of campers and chaperones. I want to thank all the campers for being so great. You were fantastic campers and you helped to make this one of the best camps ever. Thank you Leaders-in-Training (LITs) Jennifer Green, Tracy Betak, Kristene Muegge and Chad Cervenka of Taylor, Jessica Lyon, Jennifer Clear and Sara Wagner of Academy and Lisa Greger and Ryan Greger of Cyclone. Your guidance and attention toward our younger campers was super. Of course, camp wold not be possible without our chaperones. Emilie Tischler, (Granger), Tim Vanecek and Carol Tallas (Taylor), Rhonda Greger (Cyclone), Linda Wagner and Karen Bartek (Academy), Gary Skrabanek and David Koslovsky (Seaton) and lifeguard Erin Skrabanek (Seaton). This is the first time in many years we have had Elgin campers. We were so pleased to have several new

10NESTNIK—Wednesday, September 29, 999 chaperones from Elgin also: Floyd Bowen, Joyce Nelson and Raymond Nelson. Thank you!!

Former LITs—Now Chaperones How very pleased we were to have former District Two campers as first time chaperones, Tammy Baker, J.P. Chervenka, and Jennifer Ashcraft Chervenka of Cyclone. It was great having you back at Camp Val Verde. Thank you Assistant District Youth Counselor Richard Greger for all your help. Richard is always there, ready to help in any and every way. A special thank you to our camp nurse Glenda Hudler. Luckily, we did not keep Glenda too busy this year. Thank you, Glenda for volunteering your time. And many thanks to my right hand, Assistant DYC and my friend, Janet Lyon., Janet does so much prior to ca mp with all the preparation and so much to make camp fun. Thank you, Janet. You know I couldn't do it without you. It was great this year to have our State Youth Director Melanie and fiancee, David, come out and spend the night with us. Melanie got so involved with the campers and the hikes. Thank you Melanie and David. We also were glad to have President Leshikar come out and visit.

Arrival, Rules and Games Campers arrived on Friday, morning and we began our camp with introduction, rules and get-acquainted games led by our LITs. Our day continued with swimming, horseback riding and canoeing. This year's theme for our District Two Camp was "The Present, The Past and The Future." The above activities took care'of "The Present." "The Past" took us back to one of the traditions Czechs are known for—good ole homemade kolaches. Under the supervision of our talented Youth Leader Carol Tallas of Taylor, groups made kolaches. Were they ever delicious! Thank you, Carol for all the time you put into the activity. They were very delicious and eaten very quickly. The youth really enjoyed playing with and rolling out the dough. While we waited for the dough to rise Tammy Baker instructed the campers on making pound puppies. They turned out so cute.

First Aid, Medivac Helicopter We were very pleased to have Mr. Thomas Pechal of the Temple Fire Department come out and give us some tips on first aid. Everyone enjoyed his presentation and learned a lot from his question/answer session. My special thanks to Thomas for the coordination of Scott and White Medivac visit to Camp Val Verde. There was much excitement when the McGregor VFD truck came to the swamp. And only minutes later, the helicopter landed. We were all so excited to see the landing and then to find out we could sit in the helicopter. We give a special thanks to Scott and White Medivac pilot Mike Williams, Flight Nurse, De De Mercier and Flight Paramedic Jim Honea. They were so kind and answered so many questions. We enjoyed the visit and hope they enjoyed our kolaches. As you can see, our first day was filled with much excitement (and no rain).

Rain, Other Camp Activities Saturday included the usual camp activities, rain, horseback riding, swimming, more rain, games, canoeing, crafts, volleyball and free time visiting with friends. All activities were

altered, but worked out very well thanks to our super campers. The younger groups enjoyed a camp favorite, the shaving cream fight. I had a hard time recognizing those involved. As the older campers sat around observing or at least that's what I thought. It seemed to them that they were missing out and then everyone enjoyed the shaving cream. Then came the time for first-time campers and chaperones. Thank you, Janet for the initiation game. What good sports our newcomers were. Now they are ready for next year! Our evening ended with late swimming and a hike. Sunday, we continued on with the same schedule—rain, etc. Janet planned a great scavenger hunt with the group divided by two. It was great seeing each group working together.

Astronomer Visits Campers We were pleased to have Astronomer and Temple College instructor Charles Wheeler visit us and carry out the last portion of our camp theme, "The Future." Unfortunately, once again, the weather did not cooperate too well. There were no stars anywhere in sight. So, we gathered around the flag pole as Mr. Wheeler spoke about our galaxy—its sun, stars and planets. Of course, after Mr. Wheeler left, guess what appeared? Stars. We appreciated very much Mr. Wheeler's time and patience. He answered many questions from our campers, including future walks on the moon. Our last night of camp began and came to an end.

Campers Celebrate Countdown to 2000 To help celebrate "The Future" and the year 2000, we had a New Year's party. What else would be proper other than the traditional SPJST New Year's Eve dance? There were hats, horns, leis, loud music, dancing, snacks and black-eyed peas. Everyone danced, so mom and dad don't let your youth fool you—they can dance. Our countdown began at 11:59.50 seconds. What excitement and noise. Well, the clock struck 12 midnight, Auld Lang Syne played and what kissing and hugging! It was so much fun. We woke up the next morning knowing this had been one of our best camps. Unfortunately, we had to leave our friends and wait for our next activi ty to be together again. A poll was taken and everyone promised to be back next year. That says it all about our District Two camp. Thank you campers, chaperones and parents for being a part of our camp. Thank you to the SPJST Society for giving us this camping opportunity. Fraternally, Patsy Koslovsky District Two Youth Counselor (Editor's Note: Watch for accompanying photographs in next week's Vestnik.) --SPJST-

Youth Club dances Beseda Vestnik Readers, A circle of Beseda Dancers that included J.J. and Jamie Novak, Rusty and Leslie Sims, Jarod and Marchele Olds, and Brooks Zabojnik and Mandy Faraizl, were invited to dance the Beseda on Saturday, September 11,1999, at "A Millennium Fantasy," the name of this year's annual gala at the Wells Fargo Bank in Lakewood, a suburb of Dallas.

A Worthy Cause Our group was privileged to Dance for the attendees to this worthy fundraiser sponsored by "D.O.T.," a volunteer organization whose proceeds go toward alleviating financial woes for the indigent terminally ill and their family member dependents provided through a voucher system. Since 1990, Jim Davis founded D.O.T., (as a non-profit out-reach program), which accepts monetary donations all year. D.O.T. also accepts donations to their food pantry and consignment re-sale store on a continuing basis. Among the other multi-cultural performers at this Gala were the Fire Fighters, a band formed by former 84 Youth Club member Richard Andreason and his friends. Our group also enjoyed tasting the multi-cultural food sponsored by area businesses, a "Czech Taste" of which was provided by Rudolph's Meat Market and served to us by Brandon Andreason, another former 84 Youth Club member. We'd also like to thank the father of one of our Youth Club members for volunteering to give his professional advice to help the Gala fix their blown generator when all the lights went out; and also a big thank you for the police cruiser that hooked up our Beseda music to his loud speaker, so we could dance on time anyway, until they finally got the electricity back on. Now, that's a great example of community out-reach in action! A great time was had by all performers and attendees alike and we hope we are invited to display our Czech Heritage again next year for this worthy cause. HERITAGE AND CULTURE

Czech Culture Center Houston gala night one to remember The Czech Cultural Center Houston hosted its Fourth Annual Fund Raiser/Gala and Silent Auction on Friday, August 27, 1999 at the elegant Warwick Park Plaza Hotel. The theme for the evening was Building the Future - Remembering the Past: "A Night of Czech Music, Dinner and Dance." The old European ambiance of the Houston Warwick Hotel was a great setting for this annual event. Some 450 guests enjoyed the beautiful listening and dancing music of the Gus Lindemann Orchestra after hearing the beautiful sounds of Smetana and Dvorak on a Grand Petrof piano played by pianist Eva Jarolim and hearing the Czech and Slovak anthems sung acappela by Helen Hegwood. The last moment cancellation of a scheduled appearance of Astronaut Captain Eugene A. Cernan, USN (ret.) signing his recently published book, The Last Man on the Moon, was heard with the news of his short hospitalization following an international tour. His spirit, however, prevailed. The World Champion Czech Republic Boxing Team members and their Coach Svatopluk Zacek were a hit with the crowd posing for pictures before they departed to the George R. Brown Convention Center for the awarding of medals.

Special Greetings Sent Special greetings to the guests were sent by Governor George W. Bush, The Honorable Lee P. Brown, Mayor, Czech Ambassador, His Excellency Alexandr Vondra, Houston Chronicle Associate publisher/editor Mr. Jack Loftis and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee sent her Congressional Aide Marie Dixon to convey her personal greetings to the guests, which were both historical and very moving. A U.S. Flag which was flown over the Capitol in Washington was presented to Chairman Effie M. Rosene for the Czech Cultural Center Houston in honor of the occasion. The flag will be raised during the opening ceremonies of the Center upon its completion.

All Proceeds Directed to Campaign The Czech Cultural Center Chairman of the Board Effie M. Rosene stated every dollar of proceeds would become part of the $4.5 million dollar Capital Campaign proceeds to build a first-of-its kind facility in the museum or mid-town district. Plans include a museum, concert/lecture hall, art galleries, teaching academy, Czech and Slovak specialties restaurant, library/archives and a Welcome/Information Center to promote, preserve, record and celebrate the culture, language and arts of Bohemia, Moravia, Slovakia and Silesia. The general and Czech community will be served while promoting international trade and friendship with the Czech and Slovak lands. Effie Rosene —SPJST-
