Royalty, Youth Achievement Day at Temple's Mayborn Center to showcase SPJST's young talent P eople

from across Texas will converge on Temple's Frank W. Mayborn Convention Center on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2 for the annual SPJST Royalty/Beseda State Youth Achievement Days. State Royalty Competition Saturday, August 1 On Saturday, August 1, the 1997-98 SPJST State King J.J. Novak of Lodge 84, Dallas; State Queen Elizabeth Wagner of Lodge 4, Hallettsville; State Duke Michael Kenney of Lodge 84, Dallas; and State Duchess Elizabeth Vahalik of Lodge 4, Hallettsville will preside over the SPJST Royalty Competition which begins at 4 p.m. First place winners from the seven SPJST districts across the state of Texas will compete for the title of SPJST State King and State Queen. The 1998-99 State King and Queen will represent the SPJST Society at events across Texas, including West Fest, the Temple Christmas Parade, Texas Fraternal Congress, and the crowning of the 1999-2000 SPJST State King and Queen. At 6 p.m., a dinner will be available. A grand march begins at 7:30 p.m., followed by a free dance. State Youth Achievement Day Sunday, August 2 On Sunday, August 2, the SPJST State Youth Achievement Day begins with the opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. A lunch will also be available.
