Readers Write Youth Program Promotes Positive Image of Organization Dear SPJST Members, Greg Catalano is a faculty member at Spring High School where my older son, Darren, goes to school. I had the opportunity to speak with him recently and I was very pleased with the things he said.

I told him that my younger son, Darrell,

had enjoyed the L.I.T. camp last June and Mr. Catalano (who was a facilitator at camp) added that he did, too.

Mr. Catalano commented that the youth from the SPJST is one of his favorite groups to work with. He also said he enjoyed judging YAD in

Lodge Officers' Workshop February 22 at Lodge 24, Cyclone The important role of the local lodge and its officers will be emphasized at this year's local lodge workshop to be held February 22 at Lodge 24, Cyclone.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include a complimentary luncheon. The SPJST Supreme Lodge Officers and Editor will be presenting timely information on matters of importance to local lodges.

"The discussions will be informal," says SPJST Legal Advisor Sidney Kacir, who is coordinating the project. "We are optimistic that this format will encourage an exchange of ideas between lodges and between all concerned."

The Supreme Lodge has authorized reimbursement for one car per lodge to attend the workshop. Lodges that will be presented with incentive awards at the

Awards Dinner following the workshop at Lodge 47, Seaton will be authorized reimbursement for one additional car.

"We would certainly appreciate receiving the names of those planning to attend in order to provide adequate seating and an ample amount of food for the noon meal.

"Realizing how this important information can affect our future successes and accomplishments, the Home Office will do everything possible to make this a productive learning experience.

Any constructive ideas you have, please notify me so that we can incorporate them into the program schedule," encourages Brother Kacir.

Lodge Letters Section Lodge 18, Elgin Reports on December Meeting Vice President Evelyn Gustafson opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and silent prayer.

President Dolly Hajda was absent due to the bad weather. Agnes Eschberger read the minutes. We had an invitation to the Elgin 4-H and PIA Youth Fair which was set for January 10 and 11. Help support the youth. Attend if you can.

Jack Eschberger and Artie Monson gave the entertainment report. Irene Helgren presented the House Party report and Alice Polasek gave the treasurer's report for Gladys Mogoney. Agnes Rupp gave the treasurer's report and asked any

questions on the insurance be brought to her so she can get answers for us. Bill Schmidt gave the bar report.

Marvin Marek donated a fan. Thank you. Walter Bartos repaired the water cooler and freezer. Thank you. The ice machine was repaired.

Irene Helgren thanked all the volunteers who helped decorate the hall. The hall really looks good. We can all be proud. Thanks, gang, you did a great job.

I won't try to name you all because I was not there and I don't want to forget anyone.

Agnes Rupp is working on all the end of the year taxes, bills, etc. We are tax exempt so we might get a refund.

Lodge 29, Taylor Reports on Christmas Meeting and Party SPJST Lodge 29 held its Christmas meeting and party on December 14 at 4 p.m. Members stood for the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Brian Zak. Members remained standing in silent respect for deceased members Paul Zimmerhanzel and Alvin Rundberg.

Janet Kaiser read the minutes and gave the treasurer's report.

Guests from the Home Office included Frank and Irma Klinkovsky and Keith Gatewood. Frank and Irma were in Taylor to honor Mary Boudny on her 96th birthday. Other lodge members that went to the Boudny home to honor her were Janet Kaiser, Elaine and Albin Machu, Donna Pasemann, and Ronnie Rieger. Donna Pasemann honored her with a decorated cake. Happy Birthday, Mary, from Lodge 29.

Optical Design in Taylor was the first group to be written in the state. Albin Machu wrote up the group.

New members are Elvira Palacios, Jeff Shaw, Cindy Shaw, Mathew Shaw, Christine Shaw, Jennifer Shaw, Roy Redding, Mildred Srnensky, Malinda Limmer, Nicole Tolbert, Cassie Reeder, Cole Maki, Christine Maki, and Mike Maki.

Officers for 1997 were installed by Frank Klinkovsky.

Our lodge had a City Wide Garage Sale on January 18 beginning at 6:30 a.m.

Super Bowl Party This Sunday Also, don't forget about our Super Bowl party on January 26. There will be five televisions to watch. Prize drawing tickets are being sold for three televisions: a 32" Panasonic, a 13" Zenith TV/VCR, and a 19" RCA, and a Sharp tabletop stereo system to be given away at the party. Tickets are $5 or six for $25.

Youth Leader Carol Tallas took the club caroling to the S.RJ.S.T. Rest Home.

Each club member brought a box of Kleenex to a resident. They also brought a door prize for the Christmas meeting.

They also decorated the tree and upstairs and filled fruit/candy bags for Santa to give out.

The meeting was adjourned and then the youth club presented a short Christmas program and sang some carols.

Then we received a visit from Santa Claus.

Everyone enjoyed socializing followed by a delicious meal.

Lodge 29, Taylor's Christmas party on December 14 provided the young — and young at heart — with an opportunity to visit with Santa Claus. Dear Members and Friends, Some of our younger generation and some older were wishing for a white Christmas, but on January 12 our lodge meeting got the white meeting. It was not too bad in the morning. The president called and said we would have the meeting. But during the long meeting, it did not take long for the roads and lawns to be covered with the snow. We had a nice attendance and several items were discussed.

First, the youth club, with the youth leader and the assistants, led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. The president thanked everyone for helping with the Christmas packing of fruit and candy.

Mary Ann and Kenneth Krivanek fixed the good breakfast for the members that were working in the morning. Thanks go to the youth club for the nice Christmas program they put on.

Secretary Christine Zich read the minutes of the past meeting and all the conespondence. The trustees gave their report as did other committees. Some proposals for the by-laws were read and will be acted in the future meetings. The dance schedules were discussed and this is what

was decided. The first Sundays will be a country/western dance and the third Sunday will be a polka and waltz dance.

We hope this will help our lodge make some money. At the country dances the people do not spend much money for drinks or other items. But at the polka dances, more is made in the bar. The best part is for members to try to attend any activities that we have at our lodge. Let all of us try to keep our lodge on a profitmaking basis.

There were several that had birthdays so the members sang the birthday song to the ones that were present.

On our sick list is Brother Joe Juran who was in the hospital but now is in the rest home. Sister Esta Belle Hubenak had surgery in Granbury, Texas. She had a serious operation, so let's pray she will soon be back to the meetings. Sister Clara Cohen has been sick for a time so Clara, get well also. Brother Bill Adami was in the hospital for 23 days but has returned home for now. We all think a lot of Bill and miss him at the lodge.

Our member John Murphy has been elected Fire Chief of Arlington, Texas.

He will serve as a very good fire chief there. He has been in our city for many years fighting fires.

The Ladies Circle will have their meeting, weather permitting, so be sure to call Joyce Tesar to be sure on the meeting day.

Today, January 13, the snow is still falling so I hope it will not be too bad to drive to the stores or the schools.

I hope the members that get the Vestnik read it and find out what is going on around in other parts of Texas in our lodges. Also, please do not forget to fill out the act sheet that the FAC has given you for doing all types of fraternal work.

This needs to be in by February. This will help keep the SPJST a fraternal organization. Watch the calendar section of the Vestnik for what will be at our lodge as well as other lodges. The Vestnik has some very good and interesting news.

The lodge members want to extend sympathy to the Hixson and Hubenak families for the loss of a wonderful person. Chuck Hixson was the husband of Joann Hixson and I am sure he will be missed by many of his friends.

Last but not least, do not forget that we will be having the band from Wisconsin, the Don Peachey in March, but more will be in letters later. But keep this in mind.

Lodge 160, San Angelo Reports on Annual Meeting The annual dinner and meeting of Lodge 160, San Angelo was held on Sunday, January 12, 1997, at St. Ambrose Parish Hall in Wall.

All enjoyed a delicious noon meal, catered by McGowens, followed by the program presented by the youth club.

The meeting was called to order by President Leonard Jansa.

A memorial service was held in memory of our members who passed away since our last meeting.

This year, our local lodge presented three scholarships to local members. This year's winners were Mindy Wilde, Leonard Jansa, and Robin Jansa.

Our local lodge Fraternalist of the Year was announced, Sharon Joy Waggoner, and she was presented a plaque from the lodge.

Also, this year's 50-year members were recognized and presented their 50year pins.

In new business, the lodge voted to make donations to the local Little League, local scholarship fund, Wall Fire Department, West Texas Rehab, Hospice, Lodge 160 Youth Club, and the VA Hospital in Big Spring.

Officers were elected for the coming year, with new officers being: President Leonard Jansa Vice President Daniel Michalik Secretary Cindy Martin Treasurer Charlotte Dusek Youth Leader Betty Ann Schwartz FAC Martha Broz The new officers were installed by District Four Director Stanley Broz.

Diana Pelzel and Sharon Joy Waggoner were then thanked for their many years of service as officers of Lodge 160.

Even with the cold and icy weather we had, we had a good attendance at the dinner and meeting, and we thank all the members for attending.

The next regular meeting will be April 13, 1997.

179, Warrenton Reports on January Meeting

Lodge 179, Warrenton had their first meeting of the new year on January 9, 1997. The routine procedures took place.

All members were reminded to turn in their fraternal services report to the secretary so she can forward them to the Supreme Lodge by March 1.

Loraine Kneip reported that Amanda Quade was in the hospital and that she is back home.

Our secretary, Bea Vasek, reported that Michael Flinn and Helen Leonhardt had a perfect attendance during 1996. Loraine Kneip, a social member, also had a perfect attendance.

S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. 1, Taylor Reports on Christmas Party

Our first meeting of 1997 was held at Sokol Corpus Christi on January 9.

There were 30 members present, including Honorary Member Jerry Elzner.

Ashley Padgett brought baby Taylor who did not lack attention from other GreatGrandmother Della Elzner, Aunt Becky Elzner Jackson and other relatives and members.

Since our last meeting, we learned Velma Malchar was hospitalized with a severe back problem. A living Christmas tree was taken to her at Drs. Regional Hospital in early December. A get-well card was also sent. Velma is now at home and receiving home health care.

When I spoke to her before our meeting she said she loved to have company and I'm sure would welcome a visit or phone calls from her friends.

Anita Regmund will he entering Drs. Regional Hospital January 15 for back surgery the following day. We all hope and pray for a successful procedure to alleviate the painful problem she has endured this past year. I know Anita would like nothing better than to be able to go fishing again. We are all hoping she will be able to do just that!

Over the holidays, Donna and Jim Havranek flew to Georgia to be with relatives and encountered no weather problems. Clara Valla and her spouse drove to Nebraska and although they saw snow, it was not a problem—their car was. On the return trip, they spent five days in an Oklahoma motel and $1,000 on radiator repairs. Outrageous! Glenda Elzner flew to California to visit her parents in the Sacramento area. She saw the devastating flooding but thankfully her parents were all right and she returned safely.

Edna Voldan was appointed by President Kathy Marek to take care of the door prizes. This job entails recording who brings what, holding the drawings and recording who wins. It was good of Edna to volunteer and I am sure she will do a good job. It is a good way to learn the names of all our members: Edna also announced the birth of another greatgranddaughter. Congratulations!

Donna Havranek and Marion Peterek were appointed to the telephone committee.

The Caller-Times listing of donors to the Christmas drive was brought to show members who had missed it. Our name appeared close to the top of the list.

Then the group played some lively tunes until Santa Claus came to give the presents and candy to all the residents.

Refreshments of chicken salad sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, chips and dip, kolaches, cookies, and red punch were served by Sarah Blockmore, Mary Ann Stauffer, Leona Stalmach, Katherine Holubec, Nita Seidenberger, Margaret Alexander, Ilyn Kaspar, Sadie Blaha, and Terry Pundsack.

Mrs. Pauline Kovar (AD) wishes to express her deep appreciation to all the individuals and organizations whose contributions helped make our Christmas so much brighter and merrier this year.

New Year's Eve Party The residents also enjoyed a New Year's Eve party by playing bingo for special prizes. Refreshments were served

by Elsie Flink, Sarah Blockmore, Nita Seidenberger, Demetra Shiller, and Margaret Alexander. They consisted of cold cuts, cheese, crackers, cheetoes, cookies and fruit cake, donated by Mary Burke family.

S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. 1 Float S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. 1 entered a float in the Taylor Christmas parade. The float won second in the business division.

What an honor again this year! Thank you, Maria Estrada and her family, for the time and effort contributed to bring this honor to us.

Resident Council Meetings The council met on the first Wednesday of the month and discussed the upcoming Christmas party to be held on December 15. Plans included featuring Santa Claus coming to bring the residents their gifts. Entertainment will be by resident Mrs. Alma Fussel's son-in-law Winston Anderson, Raymond Tesmer and Joe Chovanec. Refreshments will be the same as last year. Mrs. Kovar asked the residents to thank the many people who bring us Christmas cheer this year.

Also discussed was a favorite menu for the month and it consisted of hot dogs with chili, pork and beans, chips and apple pie.

n Memoriam Expression of Sympathy We, the undersigned Resolution Committee of SPJST Lodge 88, Houston, Texas, and on behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of our departed member, VLADIMIR GEORGE BILY, who passed away January 3, 1997, at the age of 79.

During World War II, he was employed at Consolidated Steel Corporation building destroyers. After the war, he was co-owner of the John Bily Sheet Metal Shop. He served as Grand Chapter president of Slavonic Mutual Fire Insurance Association and retired in 1985. He was a lifelong member of our Lodge 88, WFLA Lodge, Sheet Metal Workers Union No. 54, and Sheet Metal Workers International Association.

Mr. Bily is survived by his wife, Tillie Mae; one daughter, Kay Bily Knight; and three grandchildren.

We, the undersigned Resolution Committee of SPJST Lodge 92, Fort Worth, Texas, wish to express our sincere sympathy on behalf of our entire membership to the family of JAMES W. POWOLNY, age 81, a retired master electrician, who died on Thursday, December 12, 1996, at a local nursing home.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 16 at Shanon North Funeral Home. Burial was at Greenwood Memorial Park.

Brother Powolny was born July 12, 1915, in Arlington, Texas. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and also a member of SPJST Lodge 92. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Powolny.

Survivors are his daughters, Nancy Spears of Burleson and Kaye Powolny of Fort Worth; sister Justina Michauskas of San Diego, California; granddaughter Barbara Ford of Denton; and niece Diane Beckmon.

Survivors are one son, Richard Taake; two grandchildren; one sister; and two brothers.

He was a member of the Episcopal faith as lay reader and acolyte in St. Andrews Episcopal Church. He was a charter member of Lodge 88 Men's Club but had resigned. He was retired from Houston Lighting and Power Company after many years of employment and later joined the Retirees Club of the company and their Golf Association, Bakers and Confectionary Workers of America, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Interment was in Hollywood Cemetery in Houston, Texas, on January 7, 1997.

In

John Mach, 84, of Axtell died Sunday, January 5, 1997, in a West Hospital.

Rosary and visitation were held at 7 p.m. Monday, January 6, 1997, in Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 1997, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elk with Rev. Isidore Rosycki as celebrant. Burial was at the SPJST Pavelka Cemetery near Elk. Mr. Mach was born December 2, 1912, in Axtell. He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of SPJST Lodge 35 in Elk where he dedicated a lot of time in organizing and working at the lodge. He was a past member of RVOS. John organized the SPJST Pavelka Cemetery into an association.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Navara Mach of Axtell; his children, Jo Ann Nors of West, Wanda Faye Sebik of Waco, Bernice Schiller of Bryan and John Ed Mach of Waco; his sisters, Mrs. Frances Dulak of Axtell, Millie Dulak of

Interment was in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Mr. Vitovsky, 86, died Thursday, January 9, 1997, at his home in Ennis.

He was born August 18, 1910, in Ennis, the son of Joe Stanley and Frances Bohalek Vitovsky. He was reared in Ennis and was a 1930 graduate of Ennis High School. He then attended businesS school in Dallas including SMU. On November 16, 1938, he was married to

Florence Nekuza. After their marriage they lived in Ennis. He was employed as a clerk for Munn Grocery and later as a bookkeeper for Norris Lumber Yard. In 1944, he was employed by Citizens National Bank. He retired in 1992 after 48 years of service as Senior Vice President from Nations Bank. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the KJT, the SPJST, the Kiwanis and the Ennis Chamber of Commerce. He was presented the Holy Trinity Medal by Bishop Gorman.

He is survived by his wife of Ennis; a brother, Charlie Vitovsky of Ennis; two nieces, Joyce and her husband Ed Plasek of Ennis, and Nancy Jurik and Gray Cavender of Tempe, Arizona; one greatniece and her husband, Kelly and Jeff Falkenbach; a great-nephew, David Lee Plasek; and one great-great-nephew, Scott Falkenbach.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Emilie Spaniel.

May our departed brother rest in peace and his memory live among us forever.

Expression of Sympathy We, the Resolution Committee of Jaromir Lodge No. 54, West, wish to express our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family and friends of our departed lodge member,

ERVIN R. BARTON, age 77 of West, who died Thursday morning, January 2, 1997, at his residence.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m.

Sunday, January 5 at West Brethren Church with the Rev. Don Ketcham officiating. Military Graveside Rites followed at West Brethren Cemetery.

Mr. Barton was born February 23, 1919, in Abbott, the son of Rudolph and Tracy Barton. He graduated from Abbott High School. He joined the United States Army serving during World War II in the Medical Detachment of the 143rd Infantry, 36th Division. He was captured and served as a Prisoner of War from December, 1942, to May, 1945.

He married Pauline Foit on June 30, 1945, in West. He worked at General Tire and Rubber Company as a Quality Control Inspector for 25 years until he retired in 1981. He also worked for Waco Chevrolet from 1946 to 1956. He was a member of the West Brethren Church and the Board of Elders where he served as a secretary. He was also a Sunday School Secretary for many years.

He was a member of VFW Post 4819, American Ex-POWs and of the 143rd Infantry. He was a member of SPJST Lodge 54 since January, 1941.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Polly) Barton of West; two daughters, Shirley Galanti and her husband Jim and Susan Martin and her husband John, all of Chalk Bluff; two brothers, Harry R. Barton and his wife Gladys of Austin and Robert L. Barton of Frisco; three grandchildren, LeAnn Sleeper of Hewitt, Kim Beheler of Colorado City, Texas and Robert Sleeper and his wife Georgetta of Waco; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Joe Barton, Edwin Husak, Ronnie Foit, Kenneth Barton, Randy Barton and Tony Sulak.

The family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 4 at the funeral home.

Memory of Loma Nell Surrant Harris In

Funeral services for Loma Nell (Surrant) Harris, 57, were held December 27, 1996, in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Longview with Dr. Laney Johnson officiating.

Burial was in Bear Creek Cemetery near Linden with the Rev. Jerry Sharp officiating.

Loma died in Houston on December 25, 1996.

Born September 24, 1939, Mrs. Harris was a charter member of the SPJST Fraternal Lodge 178 in Longview, serving as treasurer for 20 years and she was recently reelected to that office. In 1988, she was a delegate to the state convention and was an alternate in other years.

She specialized in relocation services and was the relocation director for Joyce Flanagan Realtor. She was first associated with J.C. Newman & Associates in 1976 and was a graduate of the Realtor Institute. She was also a member of the

Longview Board of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors, was very active in the Real Estate Political Action Committee, and served on several other committees during her 20 years as a Realtor.

As a member of the Gregg County Democrats, she was a delegate or alternate to every state convention since 1980.

Loma Surrant married James Harris on June 7, 1958. She was a good wife, wonderful mother and grandmother and being young at heart and very outgoing, she enjoyed various family outings, particularly camping.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lone Surrant, and two brothers, Horace Richard and Jerry Dale Surrant.

Survivors include her husband, James Harris of Longview; a son and daughterin-law, Scott and Karen Harris of Longview; daughter Nicole Harris 'pf Longview; a grandson, Aaron Harris of Longview; her mother, Juanita Surrant of Linden; her grandmother, Melita Wilson of Linden; a sister and brother-in-law, Lynette and Jerry Sharp of Linden; a niece, Paula Watson of Linden; a nephew, Michael Sharp of Linden; an aunt, Mrs. Tommie Wells of Linden; cousins Boyce Wells of Atlanta and Murray Wells of Marshall; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Youth Letters Section District Two Young People Plan Ice Skating Party Dear Readers, It's hard to believe the first month of 1997 is drawing to an end. It has really been a true January with the cold and ice.

District Two members, how about a little more ice in February? Our annual District Two Skating Party will be on ice.

With the suggestion of many youth members and leaders, we will take advantage of Bell County's new ice rink.

Make plans for Saturday, February 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bell County Expo on IH-35. As always, please invite a friend to enjoy the afternoon with you.

Youth Club Participates in Parade Dear Readers, Our youth club participated in the annual Lavaca County Kolache Festival parade held on Saturday, September 28 around the square in Hallettsville, Texas.

Our float depicted the SPJST's upcoming 100th birthday. We built the entire float ourselves and had a great time doing it.

We were all very proud to promote SPJST in our community. Everyone enjoyed seeing us and the kids really liked the candy and bubble gum that we threw.

Special thanks to my mom and Youth Leader Annie Vahalik, Scott Holly's mom, Delores Holly, and my aunt, Helen Zabransky, for their tremendous input, support, and encouragement as we gathered our ideas and supplies. Big, big thanks to Trevor Scott and Scott Holly's grandma and grandpa, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Holly, for allowing us to build the float in their backyard. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Balusek, Adam, Joshua, and Mark Siptak's grandparents, deserve a hearty thanks for letting us use their flatbed trailer to build our float on and then driving us through the streets of Hallettsville for the parade. You are all great people and we had fun working with all of you.

Dear Readers, Hope everyone had a good Christmas and a happy new year.

We delivered our Christmas craft for the rest home residents on December 15, 1996. The youth helped distribute the gifts and visited with some of the residents.

At this time, our youth club would like to thank Lodge 84 and Bessie Petr for hosting the district lock-in on December 20 and 21, 1996. Our youth enjoyed the lock-in and Holiday-in-the-Park. Celia Dobecka, Christi Sparkman, Whitney Dobecka, Traci Dobecka, Bob Dobecka, and myself attended this event.

Our regular meeting for January was held Sunday, January 5, 1997. We discussed making a valentine craft for the rest home. Cakes were taken to the rest home on January 8, 1997.

Just a reminder for the youth to send their t-shirt design in by January 31, 1997.

The next meeting will be Sunday, February 2, 1997, after the adult meeting.

St. Christopher Catholic Church Sets Boulanger String Quartet Concert Rare music by Czech-Jewish composers will be performed by the Boulanger String Quartet at a concert Tuesday, February 4, 1997, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 8150 Park Place in Houston. The Quartet will play works composed by Czech Jewish musicians imprisoned in the Nazi death- camp at Terezin near Prague in what is now the Czech Republic.

These works include "Praeludium,"

by Viktor Kohn (a violinist and tlutist), "Uv'tzeil K'nofecho" arranged for string quartet by Zigmund Schul (who died at Terezin in 1944), "Gavotte" by Egon Ledec, associate concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic, and "Song Without Words" by Frantisek Domazlicky, who actually survived Terezin.

The tioulanger Quartet is composed of Lori Fay and Trung Le Trinh, violins; Marcia Ryan, viola; and Paula Eisenstein Baker, violoncello. The group has played together professionally since 1988. Eisenstein Baker is adjunct professor of cello and chamber music at the University of St. Thomas, and all four are active free-lance performers. The quartet is also the nucleus of the Houston Ensemble for Jewish Music, which has been invited by the

St. Petersburg (Russia) Society for Jewish Folk Music to perform in that city in June.

The Seventh Annual Texas Polka Music Awards and Festival is Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, 1997, at the Civic Center in El Campo, Texas.

All Czech nouns are classified as being either masculine, feminine or neuter. If they end in a hard or neutral consonant, they are classed as masculine; if they end in "a" they are feminine, and if they end in "o", they are neuter. 3. The Demonstrative Adjectives The demonstrative adjective "that" is translated in Czech by TEN, TA, TO. TEN is always used with masculine nouns; TA with feminine and TO with neuter.

Homework 1. Copy the expressions and vocabulary into a notebook and memorize them.

2. Memorize the conjugation of miti "to have."

3. Classify the nouns that are given in the vocabulary as to their gender.

4. Place the correct demonstrative adjective ten, ta, to before each noun in the vocabulary. Example: ten park, ta lampa, to okno.

The SPJST was founded as a fraternal benefit society in 1897. Throughout its existence, the Society has worked to ensure the financial security of its members and its fraternal commitment to the communities where SPJST members live and work.
