All of those pennies are adding up
Under a month to go in SPJST scholarship drive Through the end of the first week in December, a total of $3,681 in cash donations had been collected for the 1997 SPJST 100 Pennies Scholarship Drive. "That's equivalent to seven $500 scholarships," says State Fraternal Activities Coordinator Frank Klinkovsky, who is coordinating the fund-raising effort. "We appreciate the generosity of those who have contributed to the program," he says. "With ies than a month to go, we're encouraging everyone to make a commitment to the scholarship drive. It doesn't have to be lot. If everybody gives a little, it can make a very big difference."
The goal of this year's 100 Pennies Scholarship Drive, which runs through December 31, is to raise $10,000. "All money collected goes directly towards scholarships," says Brother Klinkovsky, adding that, "Your financial gifts are tax-deductible." Thanks to an allocation from the Superrne Lodge, this past spring, the SPJST awarded $47,500 in scholarships. Well over 800 scholarships have been awarded by the Society since the program started in 1983. The third listing of members who have donated to the 1996 drive include:
