SPJST assists Temple Sister Cities program The SPJST, working in conjunction with the Temple Sister Cities program, recently hosted a reception honoring three guests from Aguacalientes, Mexico, at the SPJST Home Office Building. Visiting officials from Mexico were invited to Temple to tour the city in conjunction with establishing a "sister city relationship." During their stay, group members Manuel Chavez Sifuentes, Carlos Gaitan and Roberto Diaz Ruiz visited medical, educational, cultural and industrial facilities. Their visit coincided with the city's annual Texas Train Festival. Supreme Lodge officials, Temple Sister Cities Board members and guests participated in the event. The SPJST was proud to play a part in the program and share information about the Society and the influence of the Czech culture in the Temple area. An early-morning breakfast was held at which time Supreme Lodge Vice President Leonard Mikeska presented a

gift to the City of Aguacalientes on behalf of the SPJST. Kathy Fritz, assistant to the Vice President and Temple Sister Cities Board Member, officially "pinned" each member of the visiting delegation. After the breakfast and ceremony, the delegation toured the SPJST Museum escorted by Dorothy Pechal, museum curator. Early this month, ten members of the Temple Sister Cities including Temple Mayor J.W. Perry and City Manager David Taylor visted Aguacalientes where they signed a formal proclamation between the two cities. A reciprocal signing of the agreement will be held in Temple early in 1997. One of the goals of the Temple Sister Cities Corporation for 1997 will be to network with officials in cities within the Czech Republic to establish another sister relationship representing the Czech population in Temple. SPJST looks forward to this with great anticipation as it opens (Continued on page 3.)
