SPirST 100 Pennies Scholarship Drive kicks off this week The SPJST's annual 100 Pennies Scholarship Drive officially kicked off on Tuesday, October 1. The goal of the 1996 drive, which continues through December 31, is to raise $20,000. "Our 1996 goal is to award 100 scholarships in the spring of 1997," says State Fraternal Activities Coordinator Frank Klinkovsky, who is coordinating the drive. "To coincide with the 100th anniversary celebration of our society, our goal is much larger than usual." Last year's 100 Pennies Scholarship Drive generated more than $16,500 in contributions — enough to award 33 additional $500 SPJST Scholarships in 1995.
