Lodge 107, Floresvme takes top honors in domino tournament Lodge 17, New Tabor was the site for the Twelfth Annual Straight Domino Tournament. A total of 40 enthusiastic players, representing ten lodges from around the state, played in the March 9 tournament. State Fraternal Activities Coordinator Frank Klinkovsky welcomed the players. District One Director Andrew Vavra and District Seven Director Bob Bayer were recognized for being present. District Director Bob Bayer also played in the tournament. After four games, a delicious noon meal was served by Lodge 17, New Tabor. Afterwards, four more games were played by all players. At the end of regulation play, five teams posted six wins and two losses — all tied for first place! This is where the excitement began. After five additional games, the results were as follows: First Place Team Joe Pavliska and Bob Bayer Lodge 107, Floresville Second Place Team Carol Petty and Melissa Wiederhold Lodge 17, New Tabor Third Place Team Gary Zwernemann and Donnie Paul Lodge 17, New Tabor Fourth Place Team Johnny Kelarek and Garry Kelarek Lodge 24, Cyclone Fifth Place Team William Smetanka and Kenneth Marek Lodge 24, Cyclone Lodge 17, New Tabor won the plaque for 1996 for winning most games. New Tabor fielded six teams in the tournament.

Sincere thanks is extended to everyone who played in or supported this tournament. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the day and the fellowship. Special thanks to Lodge 17 for their hospitality and the great job they did hosting the tournament. Thank you, too, to Director Vavra and Irma Klinkovsky for helping to keep score.
