29 new scholarships - and counting!

100 Pennies driv eds goal in final week of '95 Through December 29, the SPJST 100 Pennies Scholarship Drive collected a total of $14,514.76 - enough for 29 additional SPJST scholarships. That amount already exceeds the amount col­ lected in last year's drive by more than $1,000. Late contributions to the 1995 100 Pennies Scholarship Drive will be accepted through the middle of January. All contributors will be listed and a final tally posted. SPJST Supports Public Broadcasting SPJST Home Officepersonnel volunteered to accept phone-in pledges during the recent fund drive hosted by public television station KNCT-TV, Channel 46. Clifford Cawthon, a member of Lodge 177, Academy, was up to his elbows in bicyclesat the SPJST Home Officeon Saturday, December 16. Brother Cawthon volunteered his time and energy to clean and tune up all of the used bicyclesand tricycles donated to the 1995 Temple Santa Pal Program, The SPJST Home Officeserved as headquarters and the central collectionpoint for Temple's 1995 Santa Pal project. This year's program provided toys for 759 deserving young­ sters in the Temple area. Area food banks also benetitted greatly from the large volume of canned goods collectedduring the drive.
