Holiday Ornament Contest Brings Holiday Color to Home Office During the month of December, members are invited to visit the SPJST Museum to view the Youth Christmas Tree and see the wonderful and imaginative ornaments that our young people have created for this special tree. The museum is located on the ground floor of the SPJST Home Office Building at 520 North Main Street in Temple. The SPJST expresses its appreciation to all of the participants in this year's Holiday Ornament Contest. We would also like to congratulate the following winners:

SPJST Home Office Employees, Officers, Directors and their families extend Seasons Greetings to all members on the back page of this week's Vestnik.
Society mourns loss of past District Director Frank W. Veselka Brother Frank W. Veselka, who served as SPJST District Seven Director from 1974 to 1977 died Monday, December 4, 1995 in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was 86. A member of SPJST Lodge No. 79, Corpus Christi, the is Czech Heritage at Society, and a charter member of Corpus Christi Sokol, Brother Veselka was elected alternate director on June 22, 1972 at the XXIst SPJST Convention Frank W. Veselka
in Houston. He assumed the position of director of District Seven on May 1, 1974 and served as a member of the Supreme Lodge until January 1, 1977. Attendees of the XXIV SPJST Convention in Corpus Christi in 1984 will recall that Brother Veselka was then President of Lodge 79, Corpus Christi and had the honor of welcoming the delegation to his city. Brother Veselka is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carrie Veselka of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Fred) Curry of Corpus Christi; one son, Raymond (Judy) Veselka of Dallas; three brothers, E.O. Veselka of Houston,
Texas; Harry H. Veselka and Adolph J. Veselka, both of Yoakum; one sister, Thelma Dayton of LaWard, Texas; three grandchildren, Troy Smart of Austin, Cathy Gail Hensely of Aransas Pass and Debby B Barnes of Corpus Christi; four great-grandchildren, Jodi Hensely, Mark Turley, Shawn Barnes and Sarah Barnes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Brother Veselka were Wednesday, December 6, in the Maxwell P. Dunne Chapel. Some of those participating in the funeral ceremony included: Alvin Prochaska of the Czech Heritage Society in Corpus Christi; Larry Laznovsky, President of
the Southern District of Sokol, who acknowledged Brother Veselka's dedication to Sokol; Raymond Veselka, son, who delivered a heartfelt eulogy praising his father's life; and Leonard Mikeska, SPJST Supreme Lodge Vice President, who addressed Brother Veselka's SPJST involvement. "Brother Veselka will be remembered as a good leader and as a fraternalist who was always loyal and fair," said Brother Mikeska. "The SPJST was enriched by his services to the Society." The family requests that memorials be sent to the SPJST Scholarship Fund.
