Summer Marathon membership drive ends October 31 The SPJST's Summer Marathon '95 membership drive concluded on October 31, 1995. The Home Office is proud to report that through the end of October, 135 new members had been issued insurance certificates as a result of the membership drive. Additional new members will be reported at the end of November.

For every new member who was signed, recruiters will have their name entered in a cash prize drawing that will take place at the Home Office on Friday, December 15, 1995. There will be a drawing for a $200 prize, three $100 prizes, and four $50 prizes. In addition, the top five SPJST lodges based on production in the Summer Marathon will each receive $100 and the fifth through tenth place lodges will each receive $50.

Both lists of winners will be published in a December issue of the 'Vestnik.

Congratulations to all of the members who participated in the Summer Marathon and made this a success for the SPJST by helping increase our membership.

Imagine the

Possibilities .

So many times, I have wished that this column could be more of a two-way conversation between us. More like a telephone line, where we could discuss issues, express viewpoints and receive automatic feedback from each other. We really do need a lot more of that. Too often-and I've certainly been guilty of this-we don't communicate as effectively or as much as we could. Thanks to emerging technologies, however, that too may be changing.

Let me give you an example. When I'm not at the Home Office, I sometimes work on the Vestnik on my computer at home. That same personal computer is connected to a telephone line. The line connects me to a computer service called America OnLine. By dialing in to the service number, it provides access to a world of news and information, including access to the Internet. The Internet provides access to a worldwide web of information, including libraries, government agencies, businesses and individuals. It's really incredible.

And, in case you are wondering, no long distance charges apply!

Late at night, when the children are asleep, I enjoy accessing the system and communicating with people all around the country on any number of subjects.

District One and Two State Field Representative Keith Gatewood is also plugged into the system and we sometimes compare notes about our on-line experiences. Last week, Brother Keith and I talked about how these emerging technologies could have a positive impact on the way SPJST does business. And the best part of it all, you wouldn't even need a computer. We could conduct our own little "electronic lodge hall meetings" and we could do it over the telephone!

Think about the potential for opening up communications! In addition to our regular lodge meetings, one night a week, callers could dial in to the Home Office to participate in conference calls covering a range of subjects-from insurance to fraternal activities. Special conference calls could also be held to address specific topics such as mortgage lending, annuities, and the challenges of managing the local lodge hall. Convention related issues could also be discussed and ideas and opinions aired. And there would be really only one ground rule: No personal attacks would be permitted. The whole idea would be to focus on ideas, issues and answers. The only time personalities would need to get involved would be when we wanted to express thanks or give praise. By taking the high road in these discussions, we could elevate our fraternal system to new heights.

Tape recorded transcripts would be made of the conference calls. Highlights of these minutes would appear the following week in this column.

What would it take to make it happen?

I discussed the idea with a phone company teleconferencing representative. He explained how we could easily set it up now-and with as many as 4,000 incoming lines! But it wouldn't be cheap. A one-hour teleconference, limited to five incoming lines, could cost up to $225.

Until such time that this becomes a more cost-effective option, the best thing that each of us can do is to attend our local lodge meetings and discuss Society business. And when you have questions, pick up the telephone and call your elected officials. Telephone numbers for all Supreme Lodge officers, directors, standing committee members and editor appear in the column on the left.

So back to the idea of the "electronic lodge hall." Is it an objective that is so far out in left field as to be out of the ball park? Not really.

The new information technology is already transforming many business sectors, including banking and financial services, wholesaling and retailing. Technological change; however, is only part of the story. Social change and social innovation should be equally important.

The reluctance to adapt to changing times can also carry a heavy price. Just look at history: In the late nineteenth century, Great Britain lost her manufacturing leadership, which passed to Germany and the United States. And in the period after World War II, the Japanese, gained leadership in several areas that Western industry had largely neglected-namely in electronics and other high technology products.

It is reasonable to suggest that many of the business giants of tomorrow will be companies that either do not exist today or are so small as they are hardly noticeable.

The SPJST can, with determination and dedication, be a lead provider of insurance and other fraternal services in the 21st Century,. It can, provided we learn to make our existing organization capable of innovation. We need a strategy that will enable the SPJST to first identify the opportunities for innovation and then to give effective leadership in such innovation. In the words of business analyst Peter F. Drucker, "Managers have to base their decisions on what is right rather than on what is acceptable . . Managers cannot be politicians." From now on, the need is to innovate in the true sense of the word. To create truly new member products and fraternal services...

What are your ideas for building a brighter future for your local lodge and for your Society? And, what will it take to make them happen? Please, let's think seriously about these questions and discuss them with each other. Our SPJST convention is just a little more than six months away. It's a chance to take the high road and elevate our fraternal system to new heights!

November Sales Classes to Introduce New Senior Life Plan Sales classes have been scheduled to prepare our sales representatives to market the new Senior Life. The entire class will focus on features of the new plan of insurance designed for the 50 to 80 age group. Sales representatives must attend one of the classes before they will be authorized to sell this new product. We feel it is very important to fully understand the features of a product to properly meet the needs of our members and prospective members.

Sales representatives are asked to bring their rate book, calculator, and notepad to the class at the most convenient location and date.

Lodge Letters Section Lodge 6, Cottonwood Reports on Appreciation Party Dear Readers, I want to report on our appreciation party which was held November 4 at our lodge. Those who came out, spent the day socializing, eating delicious food and playing bingo, taroky, and dominoes; as your fraternal activities coordinator, I hope everyone enjoyed it. To those who did not make it, you missed a day of fun.

We also want to thank the cooks for preparing the meal.

As I write, we are leaving our daughter and son-in-law Carol and Bill Toliver's home after visiting them. We stopped in Holland and got our hair cut at "Carol's Cuts." She has opened a new beauty shop in Holland. On our way home, we stopped and visited at the SPJST Home Office.

Just a reminder that our Christmas Party will be Sunday, December 3. We want all of you to come and join us in our festivities. There will be a meeting, supper, program and Santa Claus. We are asking everyone to bring desserts.

Lodge 25, Ennis Reports on October Meeting Dear Readers, The regular meeting was held on Thursday, October 12 at 8 p.m.

The pledge was lead by Johnnie I. Krajca and a moment of silence was held for Alphonse Gurecky.

The minutes of our September meeting were read and accepted. The treasurer's and fraternal activities coordinator reports were given and approved.

All correspondence was read by Secretary Pat Fowler. Delegates for the coming convention were discussed.

Lodge 25 will have 789 votes at the coming convention to be held June 10 to June 13.

Janet Patak, the vice chairman of the Polka Festival, reported on the upcoming Polka Festival.

President of the Supreme Lodge Howard Leshikar gave us very informative information on the 100th anniversary of the SPJST It will be held on the second weekend of July, 1997.

Vice President Charlie Patak gave his report. He reported on the bar and activities held on Wednesday nights. A VCR has been purchased for the bar with the

tip monies that were left by good members of SPJST No. 25. Bar Manager Kenneth Honza suggested to buy the VCR. Thanks, Kenneth, for your thoughtfulness. Charlie brought a lot of polka tapes that can be watched on Wednesday night.

The nominating committee is working on a slate of officers for 1996. The committee consists of Jim Holaham, Martha Mack and Von Fowler.

Jessica Allen is a new member for Lodge 25. Welcome to our lodge.

Congratulations to Pat Fowler for being chosen the Fratemalist of the Year.

Our next meeting with the election of officers was scheduled for November 9 at 8 p.m. The Christmas party will be the second Sunday in December.

133, San Antonio Plans Thanksgiving Luncheon

Lodge 79, Corpus Christi will celebrate Thanksgiving with our annual traditional turkey dinner on Sunday, November 19 at 12:30 p.m. The lodge will provide the meat. Members are asked to bring side dishes and desserts. A short business meeting will follow.

133, San Antonio Reports on October Meeting Lodge

Lodge 133, San Antonio held their monthly meeting on Sunday, October 15 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Activity Center, located at 1630 Goliad Road in San Antonio. There were 22 members and three guests present.

George and Genevieve Schultz celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in October.

Sick members include Frank Fajkus, Jerry Kleperlik, Marcella Kleperlik and Roy Schauffele. Kathy Murley was reported to be doing well. We wish them all a speedy recovery.

The 100 Pennies scholarship drive is underway. Contribution forms have been distributed and donations received from our members will be matched by the lodge. Please, help our college-bound youth by contributing to this worthwhile fund.

Miloslava Phelps has been nominated as the Fraternalist of the Year for 1995.

Our congratulations to Mila for this welldeserved recognition. The election of officers for the upcoming year and the election of delegates for the 1996 convention will be held during the November meeting on Sunday, November 19.

A Thanksgiving luncheon will also be held at our meeting on Sunday, November 19 beginning at 12:30 p.m.

182, Falls County Reports on October Activities Lodge

Dear Readers, Our lodge was a bit busy in October.

On October 21 at our lodge, members worked a booth at the market on Main Street in Marlin representing our SPJST Lodge 182, Falls County. The morning was clear and cool and the evening was rather warm and windy, but it was a fairly good day for all.

October 22 was our regular meeting day. After the meeting was called to order and the Pledge of Allegiance, we preceded with reading the minutes. They were approved. Old business was then discussed.

We received the plants to be planted at the Chilton Elementary School in memory of the people in the Oklahoma disaster.

The school had changed the plan of planting a tree to planting hedge plants. The plants are the Rose of Sharon. We planted them, and a dedication service will be held later.

We planned on having a Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday get-together for members and prospective members. We adjourned and preceded to prepare the building for the blood drive by the Red Cross on Monday, October 23. The youth helped us decorate in the Halloween theme. We then shared a meal.

On October 23, the members came to help set up the equipment by the Red Cross in their need and in the process of obtaining the blood donations. The drive began at 3 p.m. This was our first time to sponsor the blood drive. It was over about 8 p.m. and it was a good drive.

We wish to thank all the donors and everyone who helped in any way.

Lodge 185, New Braunfels Reports on October Meeting Members of Lodge 185, New Braunfels gathered at the Bavarian Village on October 19 for our regular meeting. President Roy Haag called the meeting to order at 8 p.m.

Youth club member Whitney Bohnenberger led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The roll call showed all officers present.

Minutes from the June meeting and the August meeting were approved as read.

The treasurer's report was given by Ernest Jasek.

President Roy Haag introduced District Seven Director Bob Bayer and, of course, we were glad to have him present.

Plans for our Christmas party were finalized. The party will be held at the Bavarian Village on the first Thursday after Christmas.

Youth Leader Theresa Haag reported the youth had a membership drive in September and a car wash. They will be making Christmas decorations for a rest home.

District Seven Youth Counselor Susan Bohenberger reported that the District Seven youth will go to Camp Lone Star in LaGrange from July 19 to 21 for their annual outing.

Officers for 1996 were elected and will be installed at the Christmas party.

Members decided to send our annual charity contributions to Hospice.

District Director Bob Bayer reminded everyone of the District Seven fall meeting held in Floresville on Sunday, October 29. The convention is to be held in Arlington on June 10-13, 1996. The 100th anniversary of SPJST to be held in Temple, Texas, in 1997 was also brought to our attention.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

196, Houston Northwest to Host New Year's Eve Dance Lodge

October 24 was a very exciting day as we had our first meeting after the dedication of our new hall. Our attendance was good as were the reports that were delivered.

All officers were in attendance. Our president opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

After reading the minutes from the previous meeting, we had reports from all officers and committees. Our reports all reflected a successful "Grand Opening Day." Each person reporting contributed something that he or she learned that will help us run a smoother ship in the future.

Christi Circle of Women Continues to Grow Corpus

The Corpus Christi Circle of Women keeps growing. Two new members were signed up at our November 2 meeting, bringing our membership up to 41.

Agnes Burge sponsored Earlene Troell of Alice, Texas and Lillian Hruska sponsored daughter, Evelyn Lovelace of Kingsville. We welcome both ladies and hope to see them at our next meeting.

Milly Elzner read the minutes of our last meeting in Beck Jackson's absence.

She advised us of our options for our December 7 dinner. After some discussion, it was decided to go with Malek's BBQ and Catering who will serve smoked turkey. Anyone bringing a guest needs to call Becky at 882-7591 and also, any member who didn't sign up, and will be there, should call. We need an accurate head count.

On October 24, just before the City Council Meeting, the Mayor of Corpus Christi presented a Proclamation of Czech Heritage Week to Jerry Elzner, Al Kucera, Victor Maresh and myself. Jerry brought the document to our meeting and it is now posted on the SPJST bulletin board for all to view. Next year we would like to have a large representation at the ceremony. We will be working toward that goal.

and Mrs. Milton Honza Jr. Announce Arrival of Twin Daughters Mr.

Anita Regmund told us of her trip to Las Vegas. Seems the most impressive things she saw were penguins and large gold fish. Penguins are fascinating little creatures, waddling around as they do.

And the fish Anita is used to seeing are the ones she catches in our bays — so the gold fish were a novelty.

Our door prize contributors this month were Pauline Novosad, Lil Hruska, Lillie Hajek and Helen Sacky.

Our only member present with a November birthday was Lille Hajek, for who we sang "Happy Birthday." We send best wishes to those absent, namely Becky Jackson, Jennifer Marek and Lottie Ramey.

December 5 at 6:30 pm. we plan to meet at Sokol to decorate the bar area and tables for our December 7 meeting.

Concho and Tom Green Counties Czech Heritage Society to Meet

Runnels,

The Runnels, Concho and Tom Green Counties Czech Heritage Society will meet December 3, 1995, in the SPJST Hall in Rowena, Texas.

A noon meal will be served at 1 p.m.

Vice President David Blazek volunteered to smoke the turkey and ham furnished by the Society. Members are to bring two side dishes of vegetables, salads and desserts to compliment the meal.

The business meeting will start at approximately 2:30 p.m. An election of officers and directors for 1996 will be held.

David Blazek, Nancy Day and Elizabeth Walther will report on the State Czech Heritage Society meeting in Ennis, Texas, on November 18.

The purpose of the organization is to pursue the culture, history, genealogy and language of the Czechs.

Membership is open to all interested parties and guests are welcome.

To observe the spirit of Thanksgiving and Christmas, members agreed to forgo the gift exchange and bring two or more non-perishable food items for the Christmas food basket for the needy.

Rest Home No. 1, Taylor, Reports on October Activities S.P.J.S.T.

October was an extremely busy month with many extra activities going on. The Resident Council Meeting was held October 4 at which time residents discussed upcoming events, planned their favorite menu of the day, and had the opportunity to discuss any problems they seemed concerned about.

The Czech Heritage Week Party and Halloween Costume Party were the highlights of the discussion. The favorite menu of the day—chili, cornbread, lettuce and tomato salad and brownies for dessert—was served October 24.

S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. 1 residents were entertained with a Twilight Bingo at 6:30 p.m. on October 24, sponsored by five ladies affiliated with the St. Paul Lutheran Church Darcus-Hannah Circle.

They provided the prizes won and the delicious refreshments of cookies and punch. The residents had a good time staying up later after supper to play bingo. Thanks, ladies, for a good time.

On Wednesday, October 25, the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home Czech Heritage Week Party was held at 2:30 p.m. Czech Heritage Week was acknowledged by Mayor Don Hill signing the City of Taylor Proclamation at City Hall on the previous Tuesday evening. Witnesses to this event were Pauline Kovar, Activity Director at S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home, Mary Ann Stauffer, Betty Zimmerhanzel, Leona Stalmach and Edith Remmel.

With the help of Mrs. Stauffer, Mrs. Kovar organized an impressive Czech Program. Welcoming the guests and residents was Mr. Woody Richards, Administrator, after which the Taylor Czech Chorus sang the Czech Anthem.

Leona Stalmach read the history about the Czech people settling in the Texas area.

Diane Volek, S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. 1 secretary, rendered the piano music that accompanied the Taylor Czech Chorus in singing a variety of Czech songs.

Wednesday, November 15, 1995—VESTNIKJ9 Dorothy Bohac, Ph.D., president of the Travis and Williamson County Czech Heritage Society, spoke briefly about our heritage. She also brought some Czech cards made for the residents by the St Austin School (Austin) students of Laurie Whiting and her aide, Betty Holzmer.

Mr. Paul Volek played his button accordion which delighted the residents. A Czech video provided by Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Holubec featuring people singing and dancing to Czech songs entertained all.

Delicious refreshments brought by the Czech Chorus Group and others consisted of open face sandwiches, kolaches, cookies, buchta, trupky, sausage rolls, and puzicky (rosettes). This was served by Catherine Holubec, Sybil Kubacek, Mary Ann Stauffer, Trudy Kind, Shirley Holubec, Lillian Kaspar, Nita Seidenberger and Leona Stalmach.

Mrs. Kovar would like to thank Mary Ann Stauffer for all her good ideas and help with the project planning stage and finalization of a beautiful tribute to and for our immediate Czech relatives and friends. Also, thanks to Trudy Kind for fixing the Czech dolls provided by Mary Ann Stouffer and the flower vases on the table at the party.

To the students from St. Paul Lutheran School—thank you for coming to visit us on October 19. We are always glad to see you. Bless you for the time you share.

Austin Community College to Offer Czech Classes Czech classes are being offered at Austin Community College in Austin, Texas. The Travis-Williamson County Czech Heritage Society invites Czechs or those who are interested in learning the Czech language to enroll in Czech classes. The classes offered for the Spring semester are as follows:

Conversation Czech I CSC-2-322-040 is being offered for the student with little or no background in the Czech language who wants to learn to communicate in every day Czech. Emphasis is on vocabulary, pronunciation and beginning conversion. No prerequisite is required. The class will meet from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class begins on January 16 and continues for seven weeks for a total of 21 hours.

Conversation Czech II CSC-3-763040 is a continuation of Czech I designed for the student who had some basic knowledge of the Czech language or had completed Czech I. Emphasis is on improving vocabulary, basic sentence structure and speaking skills. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The class begins on March 19 and meets for seven weeks for a total of 21 hours.

Conversation Czech III CSC-943040 is a newly-introduced class offered at Austin Community College. The course is designed to increase conversation skills in the Czech Moravian dialect. Emphasis is on oral language, increasing vocabulary, pronunciation, and mastery of basic sentence structure through participation and dialogue. Prerequisite for the course is completion of Czech I and II at ACC or the ability to converse in Czech and the consent of the instructor. The class meets once a week on Monday nights from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The class begins on January 22, 1996, and continues for seven weeks for a total of 21 hours. The instructor for the course is Monica Sedlacik Miller. She has a master's degree and is a native speaker of Brno, Czech Republic. She emigrated to America and is an American citizen fluent in English. She speaks Czech with a Moravian dialect which the majority of Czech Texans speak.

Tuition for each course is $58.80. All classes meet at Reagan High School in Austin.

Registration for these classes begins on November 1, 1995, and registration ends on December 19 at the ACC Administration Offices at Highland Mall.

The School of Independent Learning at the University of Texas currently offers two courses in the Czech language.

Czech 506 and 507 are, designed to help beginners develop proficiency in understanding, reading, writing and speaking Czech. By using the texts, study guide,

and cassette tapes, students are able to learn Czech in their own home. Upon completion of each course, the student earns five hours of college credit. Both courses are redesigned by Dr. Kevin Hannan of the University of Texas, Austin and they include information on the contemporary colloquial language and on Moravian pronunciation.

Jim Lingberg, CPA received an SPJST Scholarship in 1987 and graduated cum laude from James Madison University in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He is now employed with Price Waterhouse, LLP in Washington, DC. and lives in Germantown, Maryland. His work credits include having assisted the Russian government with the privatization process in the former Soviet Union. He has also performed financial audits in various parts of the world for the Agency for International Development.

Jim writes that he was married on September 4, 1994 to Gee Yi, and that "we spend every spare moment with our dog, Tyler." Jim's mother, incidentally, is Barbara Lingberg, who was also a SPJST scholarship winner.

Wednesday, November 15, 1995—VESTNIK/11 purchased from the Vallachian Open-Air Museum Gift Shop in Roznov pod Radhostem. The blouses are white cotton and the neckline and elbow-length sleeves are trimmed with cotton eyelet ruffle or lace. The sleeveless vests are burgundy in color (other colors red and navy were submitted but were in minority). The men's sleeveless vests are also burgundy and are trimmed with navy braid. The men wear white shirts. The chapter's logo is printed on the back of the vests.

Czech immigrants began arriving in Texas in the mid-1850s. The great majority of them came from Moravia. In Texas, they identified themselves as Moravians. The poorest region of Moravia was the mountainous and unproductive Vallachia, and that is where most of the Moravian immigrants came from. The name Vallach means "shepherd."

In Memoriam In Memory of Edwin E. Hurta As long as hearts remember and for as long as hearts care, We never part with those whom we love so Dear.

Edwin Hurta, 83, of Midfield, passed away on October 8, 1995.

Edwin formerly lived in El Maton for 32 years. He lived in Midfield for the past 22 years. He was born July 1, 1912, to Frank and Anna Hurta.

He was a long-time farmer in El Maton and Midfield.

In 1959, Edwin received the "Outstanding Cotton Farmer" award.

He was bookkeeper, secretary/treasurer, and a board member of the Blessing Farmers Co-Op. Edwin was also very active in the leadership of the 4-H of Matagorda County and the Matagorda County Extension Service. Edwin was a former member of the Matagorda

County Farm Bureau.

Edwin was a veteran of World War Two, having served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Cecil Lee Post No. 649 of Blessing and the SPJST of El Maton. Edwin was also a member of the Czech Brethren Church, but in recent years he attended the Midfield Community Church.

Edwin married Annie Mae Swinky on November 19, 1941, and they were to celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary in November, 1995.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Annie Mae of Midfield; one daughter, LaVerne Hicks of Midfield; two sons, Marvin and Nona Hurta of Ashby and Lawrence Hurta of Midfield; daughter-in-law Priscilla Hurta of Edna; brother Alphon and Totsy Hurta; sister-in-law Edith Hurta; eight grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Edwin E. Hurta, Jr. Edwin was laid to rest at Hawley Cemetery near Blessing, Texas.

Youth Club Reports on October Meeting Hi! On October 8, 1995, we had our youth club meeting.

We had two guests present, Lennie Witt and a very special visit from Joni Lange, our State Youth Director. We really enjoyed her visit. Thanks for coming!

We planned a cake walk for November 11. We will have four cakes.

Also, we planned our Halloween party for October 29 at 5 p.m. It included a weiner roast and a hayride. The hayride was cancelled due to rain, but we enjoyed the hot dogs and we roasted marshmallows.

"In the Czech Republic, wine is used simply as an alcoholic beverage, much the same way as beer," Mr. Kaspar says.

"In England I learned that wine has more important aspects than to just make you drunk."

One day he saw Bulgarian wine for sale in a London wine shop and said, "Why not Czech wine?"

Upon returning to the Czech Republic, he struck a deal with Vinium Winery to export its wine to Great Britain. The initial shipments, however, did not meet with rave reviews. "The wine here is made for a different palate," Mr. Kaspar admits, Vinium's conservative directors at first took offense at Mr. Kaspar's suggestions to upgrade the wine's quality, but he was able to convince them that the profit potential in the export market outweighed any misplaced loyalty to an inferior product. Modern vinification equipment was purchased and Australian oenologists Nick Butler and Mark Nane were brought in to oversee the production. Vinium now produces 12 million liters of wine a year, and exported 50,000 cases to Great Britain last year; they also ship wine to Canada, Germany, and, of all places, the American Embassy in South Korea.

Although he travels abroad frequently, he still enjoys living in his hometown of Zlin, and in an odd way even credits the town with his success. "Zlin has the highest number of millionaires per capita in the Czech Republic." he says. "And the lowest number of pubs."

Cultivating a Taste for Czech Wine The taste of a free-market economy is especially sweet to Jan Kaspar. Under the pre-1989 regime he secretly worked several jobs in order to afford the bribes needed to travel outside this country. He is now very happy that he can put his hard work into his pocket, and his hobbies. He has a sports car and his own single-engine, two seater airplane. "It's the only sport where you're allowed only one mistake," he says.

Mr. Kaspar has made few mistakes.

When the British retail giant Marks and Spencer was going over the 600 applications from Eastern Europe looking for two candidates for their internship program, they only came up with one. He was a trainee at the firm for only three months, but he used the time to make contacts and learn about British sensibilities. He was impressed at how even he young people had an understanding of wine and its place in their culture.
