Governor Bush Signs Fraternal Proclamation On June 6, Supreme Lodge President Howard Leshikar (front row, far right), Supreme Lodge Vice President Leonard Mikeska (front row, governor's left) and SPJST Executive Assistant Kathy Fritz (second from left) participated in a Texas fraternal Congress (TFC) ceremony in Austin during which a proclamation was issued by Governor Bush's office recognizing the contribution of fraternal benefit societies in Texas. They were part of a delegation of approximately 20 other individuals representing ten fraternal benefit societies in Texas, including: Catholic Family Fraternal,

Catholic Life, Catholic Union of Texas, International Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, Lutheran Brotherhood, Polish National Alliance, Sons of Hermann, and the United Transportation Union. Brother Mikeska is currently serving as President of the Texas Fraternal Congress, a state-wide association of fraternal benefit societies domiciled in the state of Texas. Representing approximately 600,000 Texans, the TFC and its member societies have long been recognized for promoting patriotism and civic responsibility in the communities which they serve.

This week, SPJST members join with men, women and I children all over the United States to celebrate the birth of our great nation.

HEATHER KAY GRIFFITH Heather is a member of Lodge 148, Blessing and a graduate of Tidehaven High School. She is the daughter of Linda and Lewis Griffith and the granddaughter of Johnnie and Marie Nedbalek, Raymond and Evelynn Griffith and Mary Ann Griffith. Heather's future plans are to pursue a career as a doctor of neurology and a researcher.

LAMAR A. HERVEY

JAMES KORTIS

ASHLEY VICTORICK

Lamar is a member of Lodge 13, Dime Box and a graduate of Dime Box High School. He is the son of Virginia Shows and the grandson of Alene Cottrell. Lamar's future plans are to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

James is a member of Lodge 47, Seaton and a graduate of Rogers High School. He is the son of George and Wanda Kortis and the grandson of Bertha and Freeman Fuessel and the late Alfred and Georgie Kortis and Ernest Janes. James's future plans are to enlist in the Marines, followed by basic training in San Diego, California.

Ashley is a member of Lodge 9, Snook and a graduate of Snook High School. He is the son of Donnie and Janice Victorick and the grandson of the late Oscar and Mary Woodburn Albright and the late Steve and Vlasta Adamek Victorick. Ashley's future plans include attending Blinn Junior College and later transferring to Texas A&M University.
