Flag Day essay winner expresses what it means to be free Congratulations to Amy Gaas, age 14, of Caldwell, Texas, who is the winner of this year's SPJST Flag Day Essay Contest. Amy and her parents, Dennis and Karen Gaas are all members of SPJST Lodge 9, Snook. Amy's essay was read during the June 14 Flag Day ceremony held at the SPJST Home Office in Temple.
