SPJST receives an "A in annual ratings report
The SPJST Lo a ge 88 Czech Concert Orchestra recently performed at the Houston International Festival in downtown Houston. The orchestra `has been IP v ited to perform at the festival every year since its inception and is always well-receiNe-. This year, the ten-day celebration saluted Turkey. On May 6, the Czech Concert Orchestra and the SPJST Lodge 88 Choral Group also performed at the Czechfest in Rosenberg. Lodge 88 Orchestra and Choral Group were two of the first groups to perform for the Czechfest and they have since participated in every one of the events. Rehearsals are held on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at SPJST Lodge 88 at 1435 Beall in Houston. Interested musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join the group. —Submitted by Rose Sicner CONGRATULATIONS
SPJST officials were pleased to learn last week that the Society had been assigned a rating of A (Excellent) by the A.M. Best Company. The rating is assigned to institutions that have "achieved excellent overall performance when compared to the standards established by the A.M. Best Company." The notification market the conclusions of the Best Company's annual evaluation process and was based upon an extensive review of financial, investment and operation reports prepared by officers and staff members. "Naturally, we're very pleased with the rating," expressed Supreme Lodge President Howard Leshikar. "The rating reflects the order's exceptional capitalization, good quality invested asset portfolio, and consistently profitable operating results," he explained. The SPJST, on an annual basis, voluntarily submits itself to the scrutiny of the A.M. Best Company. Ratings by the

Damian is a member of Lodge 88, Houston and a graduate of Rice University where he majored in sociology. He is the son of Bill and Glenda Abreo and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Abreo, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Louque. Damian's future plans include attending law school.
Scott is a member of Lodge 88, Houston and a graduate of Lamar High School. He is the son of Terry and Joyce Stevenson and the grandson of Rudy and Celestine Darilek and Charles and Stanley Stevenson. Scott's future plans include attending college where he will major in chemical engineering.
Barbara is a member of Lodge 84, Dallas and a graduate of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where she received her master's degree in software systems engineering. She is the daughter of Joe and Adell Vlk. Barbara will pursue a career as a computer programmer/analyst.
Henry is a member of Lodge 142, Houston and a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena. He is the son of Henry and Doris Linhart and the grandson of Henry and Millie Linhart. Henry's future plans include attending Trinity University this fall where he will major in engineering.
