As a result of Brother Mikeska's appointment, the position of SecretaryTreasurer is vacant. The Supreme Lodge is working to fill the position with a qualified applicant with skills in either or all of the following areas: investments management, mortgage lending supervision, and administrative services. In addition, the successful candidate must meet the guidelines for the position as specified in Article 39 of the SPJST By-Laws. A complete transcript of Article 39 appears on page three of this week's Vestnik Qualified applicants are requested to submit their resumes and any supporting materials to the SPJST Supreme Lodge no later than April 8, 1994. The body plans to meet in a special session on April 15 to review applicants' resumes and to continue the process of hirin g, a successor. Any questions regarding the application process are to be directed to Supreme Lodge President Howard Leshikar. Until the selection process occurs, Brother Mikeska pledged to maintain responsiblity for overseeing the major functions of the Secretary-Treasurer's department. "With the dedication of our current staff members and with the strong support and assistance of Financial Secretary's department, it will be a smooth transition," he said. "We will do all that is necessary to ensure that our members continue to receive the quality of service that they have come to know and expect," concluded Brother Mikeska.
Lodge Officers' Workshop and Awards Dinner
Lodges receive recognition for team efforts Nearly 300 lodge officers, sales representatives and well-wishers, representing dozens of active lodges and all seven districts participated in the Lodge Officers' Workshop held Saturday, March 12, at Lodge 47, Seaton. This year's workshop, the theme of which was entitled,"How to Get Members to Meetings," was highlighted by a panel presentation featuring representatives from each of the districts. Each of the panel participants addressed ways their particular lodge was coping with the challenge of stimulating attendance to lodge meetings and events. Panel participant Betty Olson of Lodge 84, Dallas, who represented District Three, presented a lighthearted solution to building meeting attendance. "You've got to have a good beginning and a good ending—and keep these close together," she stated. She then stressed how important it is for lodges to capitalize on the strengths of their members tal-

Following the noon luncheon, lodge representatives reconvened for group discussion, during which time each group addressed the challenge of how to increase participation and volunteerism in lodge social activities. The results of this exercise are being compiled by the SPJST President's Office and will be presented in an upcoming issue of the Vestnik. Following 'the Lodge Officers' Workshop at Lodge 47, Seaton, the first Lodge Recognition and Incentive Awards presentation and dinner took place at Lodge 24, Cyclone. Lodges, lodge officers and lodge sales representatives were honored during the event. Pages 12 - 15 of this week's Vestnik presents this year's winning lodges.
